DCLEN -- V1R6 Language Ref : SC26-4940-05

2012-05-24 Thread Paul Gilmartin
Hello, MHVRCFS

(I can find no email contact information in this publication.
This has worked for other publications. Will it work for this?)

In:

Title: V1R6 Language Ref
Document Number: SC26-4940-05

I read:

9.9.2.2 Arithmetic (SETA) expressions
...
DCLEN
...
DCLEN('') has value 2 (argument is two apostrophes)

When I assemble this, I get:

ssembler Option Summary (PTF UK71661) Page1
   HLASM R6.0 2012/05/24 12.13
...

   2 &VAL1SETA DCLEN('') has va
   3 SET1 EQU &VAL1
   1+SET1 EQU 1

One of these must be wrong.

Thanks,
gil

The last few pages of the manual (
http://publibfp.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/download/asmr1020.pdf -
pages 437) enables you to print and then mail (USA FREEPOST) a readers
comment to us at IBM. However, you may find the web interface easier to
use.
Web based readers comments can be submitted via this IBM web page:

You will probably get John Ehrman's attention this way.

I has also been my experience that he is willing to accept error
notices sent (with restraint) to his personal email address.

Yes, there's a bug. I'll forward the info to the proper "authorities".

But is the email interface becoming unsupported? Disappointment.
I particularly miss the ability to attach files as examples. And
to Cc: myself in order to be able to keep a copy of the submitted
RCF. The latter, at least, could be mitigated by providing a
checkbox:

( ) Email a copy of this to the submitter.
