Re: [asterisk-biz] Excel php import library for rate sheets?

Hello

Is anyone aware of a php library to automate the import of carrier rate sheets?

I see that there exists PHPExcel which can handle Excel spreadsheets.
Ideally the library should provide the possibility to use import templates so
that recurring imports can be largely automated.

Any hints are greatly welcome

Gerry,

Unfortunately the answer to your question is a question... Import into what?

Asterisk all by itself doesn't know anything about rates/costs or charges.

It DOES know how to process calls and generate call records.

Re: [asterisk-biz] religious arguments and billing systems

2011-07-18 Thread Bruce Ferrell

The short for what I need is the following

1.) CDR rating/invoicing
1a.) profitability reporting
   # someone told me I needed LCR for this. I want reporting on what
calls are costing me, not route changes.

1b.) Call cutoff on low balance
2.) Not currently necessary, but something I am thinking about is SIP
endpoint provisioning (hardphone) integrated into the items above.

I need the functions integrated into my existing asterisk dial plan,
which is maybe 30 lines.

I use asterisk realtime to maintain as much of my asterisk configuration
as possible with the idea in mind that will allow me to grow the system
without managing a lot of files on multiple systems. That said, I am
just one server at this point and bottle necked in call
rating/invoicing/account balance cutoff.

I was told it was possible with a2billing but I don't see a clear
document on how a2billing works so I don't quickly see how to hook it in.

modify which is exactly what makes it so powerful.

Re: [asterisk-biz] Help with Interconnection with Verizon

2009-06-10 Thread Bruce Ferrell
Sean,

Your first step is to establish an ipsec pipe between your system and
theirs, either with a security appliance like a Sonicwall or using
Openswan directly on the asterisk box.

Either of those solutions have a number of options that have to be
coordinated with Verizon.

Once that's in place, SIP traffic traverses the pipe in encrypted
safety, transparently.

Where does this stand with respect to an Asterisk server with a Sangoma+ HW

On a further tangent, I wonder if this could be integrated with Asterisk for
the 4xFXO. The firmware is open source. I see that it runs a linux 2.4

could not conclude that from the source code myself but I didn't look too

  I agree.

In the spirit the open source your project could not have gotten off
the ground without the efforts it took build Asterisk. Take your hard
work, release it under GPL, and you will benefit from those who look to
implement it.

Or, go the route you are asking and it may rot since the marketplace
of someone buying it just to remarket it will be small. At best you're
going to get low ball offers that will insult your hard work efforts.

Also, read the trades, open source is exploding in both small and
large corporations. Your potential market for support would provide a
return much larger than a one time sale...

Good luck with your project.

Re: [Asterisk-biz] Modem Over IP: solutions ?

2005-10-22 Thread Bruce Ferrell
depending on the alarm datalink speed, you should be able to use G711 on
just about any ATA or IAD type device. PSK modulations will be more
suseptable to jitter. Usually alarm circuits are FSK under 1200 BPS so
they should make it fine.

Jean-Michel Hiver wrote:

Hi,

I have a potential client who has legacy alarm systems which use modems
to transmit encoded data to a remote location through the PSTN. They
wish to replace the 'PSTN' bit with an IP link.

I am aware that it would be best if the data was transmitted directly
over IP rather than modulated and then sent on the internet, but that is
not possible because of the legacy equipment.

I was wondering if there was some specialized ATAs of some kind that
would do TDMoIP and which could be used for this purpose?

Link latency is about 300ms with no more than 10ms jitter. If you have a
solution please let me know!

Eh?!

So you think that France Telecom hasn't assigned SipPro to handle the
licencing for Europe?

What specifically are they gonna license? That specific code or the
g.729 codec itself? Were software patents in the EU recently voted to
be invalid? That means that they can license a specific bit of code but
not the method for that code, which means that a 3rd party can write
their own g.729 codec and release that without paying the per seat
patent fee.

Unless that was just a dream I had a few months ago, which is just as
likely.

It's not the code itself which is patented... It's the G.729 algorithms
so any implementation of them requires a license.

perhaps a rewrite of a GPLed H.323 stack is in order, then this whole
thing will go away.

That would be a not very fun thing to do... First you have to do a
GPL'd ASN1 compiler. I tried once a few years back. My head STILL hurts!
