Entombed: Glory to the Thief SO I just discovered the power that the thief class has to offer, especially as a secondary job and paired with a weapon whose skill level is matched accordingly. Sneak attacks are awesome like this. So with level 1 sneak attack, and level 2 in large axes, and I happened to come across a decent large copper axe, I can pull damage in the 50 to 55 when performing a sneak attack.Just wish I could afford to upgrade to the full version. Re: Entombed: Glory to the Thief I know this is kind of off topic, but how do you get to hard mode in Entombed? I've been hearing a lot about it, but I haven't found instructions on how to get to it yet. About the thief class, I've never actually tried a thief as a first job, but I've tried assassin both as a first and second job, and it's great. Even with the assassin only being able to use short swords, it still does lots of damage. Also, for anyone who hasn't tried combining a monk and assassin, that almost owns most enemies, even the drake! I had a human monk assassin in one of the last games I played, and it did like 74 damage to the drake with sneak attack and critical hit, and 15 or 20 damage with a normal attack. Also, can adventurers actually pick locks? I had pick locks and sense secrets at level 5, and it kept saying "there is no one in your party who can pick this lock." Re: Entombed: Glory to the Thief Sadly smaller weapons do only a fraction of the damage that you're getting to larger enemies, like maybe 12.5% of normal damage to the huge enemies like ettyns and half giants. Great-axes and greatclubs and greatswords are the only weapons that still do full damage, I think longswords, longbows and battle axes do like 60 to 75%. Everything else does crap. So like monk ains are great to play but since fists are relatively small they do very little against larger targets unless you shrink them first. Then all bets are off of course.Assassins are in all ways better than thieves. They have 5 levels of sneak attack, critical hits, and assassinate to own immobilized targets, but sadly you can't accesss them in the demo. It costs around 43 dollars unless the price changed. About beating the final boss, which characters do you have? If someone needs help with the final boss, we need to know your characters and if you know, the types of weapons they're using. About the weapons and how much damage they do, I've never tried bows on giants, I'll have to check that out. Also, which jobs can use great swords? The jobs with the "swords" skill still don't let me use them. I go to equipment, and the weapon doesn't appear in the character's hands and when I compare them to another weapon, it says "name of character, can't use this item." You can do this by berserking the character you want to use it, or confusing it though both of these are dangerous. The best way to do this is with an assassin or fighter and target her head by holding down 8. The other way you could do this is by using scrolls like curse, silence, slow, enlighten on yourself, or mystify. Hope this helps. The bad news is the lich is very powerful, the good news is she can be killed in many ways because she has weaknesses. Poison her which can be done many different ways, use a silence scroll so she can't use gather departed souls, use sneak attacks, assassination, and critical hits (if you have an assassin or thief). If you have a brawler hold the lich then use headbutt which will hopefully smash her skull. I killed her this way once it was pretty awesome. Really I'm just throwing ideas out there but you need to tell us about your characters so we can tell you the best way to kill her.Hth. I've unlocked the goblin, and yes they're very weak. However, I'm thinking that I'm gunna make my own goblin king from the Goblin Stronghold, and fight with the actual goblin king. Of course mine won't be as strong because it won't have the legindary swords and armor, but it will after the fight. If anyone knows about the differences between the axes and large axes skill, I'd like to know what each of them are for. And I hate how entombed's turn system works. I have to wait to use my ogre for like 20 turns sometimes. Re: Entombed: Glory to the Thief The reason light damage or 1 damage is killing your character, is probably because of the bug with transformation. I've heard of a bug where if you transform into an animal with animal form, you won't be restored to full health until you level up. If you don't want to restart, just use your goblin thief as a character that takes the damage for you. Just keep picking "defend" for every turn for that character. If you give your goblin thief the legindary swords, that might help depending on what weapon skills you upgraded. Re: Entombed: Glory to the Thief Any fighter can use that axe, as long as the type of character is big enough. I know humans, half elves, half orcs, and ogres can use it. If you're using an ogre, it can have 2 great axes. You can also have 2 great axes if you make a skeleton half giant from the 25th floor. If you have a lot of weaker characters like goblins or farries, make a skeleton half giant. They do lots of damage to the boss. If you choose fighter as your second and necromancer as your first, you won't get the weapon or armor skills that a fighter has, meaning you won't be able to use plate armor, bucklers, and other weapons and armor the fighter can use. When you open it, you will find 2 exe files and a txt file. Read the txt file first, it explains what to do if you have a 32 or 64 bit windows. Once you have the programs from microsoft installed, install Entombed 1.05. If you're playing a game in the old version, finish that game then delete your current version of Entombed. There is also an Entombed 2 beta version. For the person who was wondering about a second job for a dwarf fighter, probably barbarian or paladin. I think barbarian is better, but they both work. I am on the final level, so I can see everything for sale, but nearly every thing listed is normal equipment. Re: Entombed: Glory to the Thief I rushed through to level 25 to see the items in the Bazaar, but if I recall you need to press the " key to enter the shops outside of the main town. I think that is the key command, but it's been over 4 years since I last played so some things are a little fuzzy. Re: Entombed: Glory to the Thief You can allways press shift to get a list of all the commands. I don't have a key for " on my keyboard, and shift +2 didn't work, so I just use that. And no, you can visit all shops on all flors even before you get to the store. Re: Entombed: Glory to the Thief Just remade a character and pressing " (quote) lets you enter the shop. Don't hold shift eveven though quotes typically requires you to hold the shift key to type it. It's the key that is important, not the actual character. I'm not sure about other keyboards as all my keyboards both wireless and blutooth have a '/" key located to keys to the right from the letter L key, so this is what I use.
