[BlindHandyMan] Kitchen faucet

2006-12-08 Thread Betsy Whitney, Dolphin Press
Aloha,
I have decided that after trying everything and anything that
everyone suggested to stop the whistle in my kitchen faucet, that I
have had it and am buying a new one. I would like advice as to what I
might buy that is likely to last just about forever. A couple of
friends have suggested a Delta and another one said a Kohler. We do
not have hard water. Thoughts? Suggestions? Types never to buy?
Betsy

that has the lever for both hot and cold water. The lever on the new faucet
doesn't really move much, I don't see how this one is going to work at
alldo any of you know why this new faucet's lever is almost

I have a plumber friend who has always recommended Moen.
http://www.moen.com
I have these in both kitchen and bath.
My kitchen one is quite unique it is called a high riser. The spout pulls up
about 8inches so large pots and buckets can fit under. The head can change
from normal flow to a spray for rinsing. The single lever handle sits to the
right of the fixture where the sprayer hole is in the sink.

I personally like the better grade Delta. They also have a life time warranty.
But the others are a good brand, as long as you buy the metal

Re: [BlindHandyMan] KITCHEN FAUCET QUESTION

2007-06-19 Thread Andy Collins
And on something similar - I need to fit a new washer to my very hard to turn
off cold water tap, and I'm not sure how to get at the washer. The tap has a
circular disk on the top that looks as if it should prise off, but doesn't with
my thumb nail. Basic job I know, but would be grateful for some guidance.

Thanks - Andy

2007-06-19 Thread Dale Leavens
Hi,

These differ a little, you may find that as you move the lever to increase the
water flow the range from hot-to-cold and back increases. Some swing in a more
or less rotation movement for mixing but more or less up and down to
increase/decrease the flow.
Once installed you should discover it works well.

Re: [BlindHandyMan] KITCHEN FAUCET QUESTION

2007-06-20 Thread Andy Collins
Glenn and Dale, this is really very helpful; I've prised the disk off the top,
and can feel the screw, so when I've got time on Friday, I'll have a go. Thanks
again, and i'll be back if I get stuck
