I just tried my old centos 4.4 i386 disk 1 did "linux text mem=128M" and the same thing. after vmlinuz.., and initrd... it just resets. I am I > wrong? yes, the i686 has some additionnal instructions that a i586 does not have. I have no idea about the cpu listed there. Try C4 with the i586 or i686 (default) version. You will be fixed. C5 does not support i586 class cpu. There was a thread about it some days/weeks ago.
