[Chevelle-list] ceramic headers

2010-08-07 Thread Russ Miesner

I am now close to starting on my 65 Chevelle drivetrain upgrade. I am
stroking my 350 to a 383. I have purchased a 700R4 trans. I intend to go with
disc front brakes and rebuild my rear drums. The rearend is getting overhauled
and I am putting in 3.55 gears with a posi. Probably an aluminum radiator and
installing A/C.
That's the background and now the question. I have been looking at different
ceramic headers. I see all kinds of prices, block huggers, full length,
different brands and they are all the best. Can anyone offer some suggestions?
I need to order in the next couple of weeks and I have no idea what to buy.
My engine builder suggests using 2.5 inch exhaust.

Thanks Chevelle list,

Russ

I bought Jet Hot Hooker Super Comp headers. They look nice, but easy to
scratch. Be careful when you install them. I would probably buy
stainless the next time just for durability.

I have used Doug Thorley Tri-Y headers ( model 375Y) and am very happy with
fit. I bought them 15 years ago uncoated and had them coated. The Try-Y
headers are suppose to be beneficial for a street vehicle. I think that
they have a coated version now.

Thank you for not using the moronic term fitment.

[Chevelle-list] Quick time Electric Cutouts

2010-08-07 Thread Bob n Cheri
Does or has anyone used the Quick Time Electric cutouts instead of the caps on
on your exhaust systems?
I'm thinking about a set but that's a lot of bucks if they don't last.
Their 90 day warranty isn't too confidence inspiring either.

I guess I want to know how well they fit.

Do they leak at the butterflies.

Have you run into clearance problems ( will be going on a 71 SS 454 stock ride
height with long tube headers and x pipe.

If you had issues with the company.

How long did they last or are they still working.

Do any of you use the controller that can be purchased additionally.

I know 3 wing nuts and the caps come off but I was just looking at this as an
option.

Thanks,
Bob Belz 71 SS 454
