Re: [Chevelle-list] brake pedal rod adjustment
Well I figured out what I had to do. I tried pushing the pin out through the hole but the hole and the pin did not line up. I tried taking the nuts off of the MC but it would not come out far enough with the lines attached. I ended up taking the clutch pedal out which let the brake pedal come out. Then I screwed the clevis back down and reassembled. It sounds simple but believe me it wasn't. I think part of the problem was the junk reproduction parts that The Classic Chassis used when they butchered my car to start with. I drove the car about three miles and they didn't lock up. Now I need to figure out why I have no pedal. I am going to bleed them and see if that helps. David Blanton **Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch "Cooking with Tyler Florence" on AOL Food. This is the result of some crooked politicians in the DMV. In a message dated 12/24/2007 12:18:13 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: We are having a huge stink in NC right now about legal titling of classic cars. I just delivered a 66 Chevelle I built for a customer. It was titled in Ka. To get his NC title it was required for the State inspector to come by my shop and verify the VIN matched the title. That was not a problem but when he looked the build over closely and realized that all that was original was the body and chassis he almost made us title it as a 2007 Custom. If he had pushed the point my customer would have been subjected to emission requirements, safety inspection and his property tax would not have been based on the book value, but build cost. Then he walks over to my 65 Elky being built on a Schwartz chassis with an LS2. Luckily it is already titled and registered or it would be a 2008 Custom. Re: [Chevelle-list] 66 gone to be fixed
If it was just the paint I would very happy. There are lot of other problems, clutch, brakes, suspension, missing body bushings just to name a few. We have a lawsuit against the shop that did the work, but we all know how long that can take. David ** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
[Chevelle-list] 66 gone to be fixed
Two years ago I got a restored 1966 Chevelle SS (clone) from my Son and Daughter-in-law for Fathers Day. The shop that did the work really stuck it to him and there were many problems that were promised to be resolved but never were. Today the next chapter of the story began, at 9:00 am Frank and Lisa from Prodigy Customs arrived and picked up my 66 and my sons 69 Camaro for a trip to Florida to have all the problems repaired. Shame on shops that can't do the work they promise and do shoddy work. If your ever in Fayetteville NC do not do business with a certain shop that is located near the Airport. [Chevelle-list] Lost keys
I now have keys for my 66. I posted earlier that I had lost my keys. I took the lock out of the door and took it to a locksmith and he made me a new set. Thank God this was a replacement lock set, all of the locks take the same key. ** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

Re: [Chevelle-list] LOST KEYS
I will check the door locks and see if there is a code there. I'm not sure but I think all the locks and switch had been changed out in a restore as they were all the same. Thanks David ** Get a sneak peak of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

[Chevelle-list] LOST KEYS
I have a 66 chevelle that I have lost the keys to, what are my options. The car has been restored and the same key fits everything. I feel sure all the locks and the ignition switch were bought with matching keys. ** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Truer words were never spoken!!
Re: [Chevelle-list] Help with springs
I call most of the time but it was the weekend. If I take the tome to fill out the request form I am serious.
[Chevelle-list] Help with springs
I give up I just ordered a set of Hotchkiss 1" drop springs if they don't do what I want I'll just sell them and try something else. I sent an email to Coil Spring Specialities but never got a reply, seems to be the way a lot of companies do business these days.
Re: [Chevelle-list] Need help with spring selection
The 1 inch drop hotchiss are what I want to install but I would like to find someone who has them with the same car and engine that I have. Thanks David
Re: [Chevelle-list] Need help with spring selection
I loosened the upper control arm nuts and bounced the front end and then retightened the nuts. It didn't make any difference. The car was a gift to me and was restored by a local shop so I'm not really sure if the bushings were lubed or not. The springs they installed are 320lb/in Elgins and I can't find any info on them anywhere.I have had the car about 3 months since the new springs were installed although I have not driven it but about 300 miles. Thanks
Re: [Chevelle-list] Need help with spring selection
Ok the front tires are 215x55x16 and the rears are 235x55x16. They are roughly 26 in tall. The front wheelwell sits two inches above the tire and the rear wheelwell sits 3 inches lower than the top of the tire. How long does it normally take for springs to settle in? Thanks David
Re: [Chevelle-list] Carrier rebuild
I tried the 3.55 in my 66 with 454 but with the richmond 5 speed I felt like I was having to shift to soon. I'm now running 3.08's.
[Chevelle-list] Need help with spring selection
I have a 66 SS(cloned) with 454. The car has had a total restore. My problem is with the springs. When I first got the car the front end was almost sitting on the ground. The headers would hit the smallest rock and you could not drive over curbs or speed bumps. The front end would also bottom out anytime you hit a small bump or dip in the road. We had the front springs replaced and now the front end sits way to high. The rear end also sits to low and bottoms out when you have someone in the back. I have an assembly manual that shows the correct ride height but that is with 7.75 x14 tires and I am running 16's. I want to have a set of hotchiss 1" drop springs installed but I have no idea where that would put the ride height. Does anyone have a 66 BB that has the 1" drop springs with 16's and if you do could you send me the measurement from the ground to the edge of the fenderwell for the front and rear or the same measurements for a stock SS BB? Thanks David
