It will cost about the same as media blasting. Maybe a little more. They don't use sand. Sandblasting is one of those universal words everyone uses to describe what they want done. They do sandblast the frame, I'll get mine done this spring. Acid dipping will get in every nook and cranny and remove EVERYTHING. Rust, grease, paint, sealer, etc. But you get back virgin looking steel. They bake it in an oven to melt and loosen everything then dip it and then it is run through a neutralizing bath. Just had mine done and I couldn't be happier with it. The solid floors I thought I had.. well their not so solid. I have to replace two small sections in front. Right where the air conditioner was. I had a Mustang media blasted once and it turned out to be a nightmare. It will punch holes in weaker metal even if there are no holes there now. Hi Gino, Well, I really like my Edelbrock carb & manifold setup... but I doubt that the gas mileage is any better & maybe not as good as a good Q-jet setup. The key word is "good". Q-jet's are either great or they're junk. If you have a good one or know how to make it a good one, they're hard to beat for an all around street carb. It just seems that so many of them are not built right & end up running bad. My 2 cents, Don Well, I'm glad this whole q-jet/edelbrock issue came up because I was originally thinking to swapping over to a edel 1405 and edel performer intake, which I was told was gonna improve my fuel economy, as well as help out in the power department, in comparison to my stock setup. So thinking fuel efficiency, would you guys recommend I rebuild my stock q-jet and keep my stock manifold over swapping over to the edel stuff? Buy the way, my q-jet is on my 1964 327 Elky.
