I put power locks in my 66, it wasnt hard but i did have to use some heavy
gauge rod to rin from the actuator to the latch. the solinoids can be bought
at a sterio/alarm shop. i have a viper alarm on mine (i live in the #1 city
for car theft) and am quite pleased, look at chevelles.com, they have a
whole tech discussion on alarms/theft deterants. i alwas am wowing people
with the poping of the locks, all my friends are jealous, hehe. if you just
want manual locks the alam will go off if the door opens on most vehicles.
my brothers truck (74 chevy) has a viper and manual locks, it works.
