Title: [Chevelle-List] Body shop $ (AKA... new 69 el camino pics are up!)
I always here people talking about all the body work that they've had done. But I never here how much their wallet hurts once the job is complete.
A friend of mine wanted to get a front quarter panel refinished, off of his 68 chevelle and the body shop wanted $300 to refinish it. You could buy an after market panel for that price!
I'm just curious to know how much you thought you were going to spend and what it ended up being. (this is open to anyone on the list)

Hi Wayne,
The rot on the roof is actually a big problem. Ron wants me to put a vinyl
roof back on because of it. I really don't want a vinyl roof though. He said
he can fill it with all metal but the problem is that it can't be patched
from behind. There is no room to get in there. He said that roof is going to
require several coats of primer sanding in between coats to get it nice
and smooth for paint. It's always a PITA to undo the vinyl roof process.
Ron also said that he thinks this car did not spend its whole life in the
south, because of the roof rot and how bad the left rear quarter was. I got
it for $200 so I wasn't expecting a lot. It looked like it could (and
should) be saved though.
Another exterior piece that will need to be welded in is the sill under the
rear window. I guess I am gonna replace those rear floor pans too. Then of
course the big thing is that this really is the best time to take it off the
frame... and I do already have the body bushings here...
