Re: [Chevelle-List] Car Console's
Stock Consoles: What features does it have? -I used stock 2spd console in the 1966 chevelle Malibu SS Canadian Car and added a Sun tack in clock hole.(Looked factory) Did you install it, or was it actually stock in your car? - It was stock in the car. Are you happy with it? -Had no problems but I will never use a 2spd again. Why did you pick this over Aftermarket and Stock consoles? - I was putting the car back to original. I am also going to put in a 3 auto console into the 1969 chevelle that I am doing now for the 400 turbo. Re: [Chevelle-List] Car Console's
Tim, For Aftermarket Consoles: Who made the console? -It is a Hurst DualGate shifter, made by Hurst in the late '60's. How much was it? -Whew! $225 for the shifter, $125 for reproduction console, $200 rechrome the top plate, $20 neutral safety switch (NOS !), homemade mounting brackets (MANY HOURS !), homemade wiring harness. What features does it have? -The Dual/Gate feature allows the shifter to switch from "traditional" shifting (pull lever into "D" and leave it there), or slide the chrome cover up to expose the "ratchet shift" features (bang 2nd, release, bang 3rd). Why did you pick this over Stock and Custom consoles? -It was the shifter/console that was used in the 1969 Yenko Camaro's and Chevelle's and probably other high performance "tuners" (Nickey, Baldwin-Motion, Dana), and the fact that it is rather rare to see one installed, and it looks absolutely "BITC#EN" in the car ! :) Hope this helps. Kent Lewis '68 Malibu ZZ502/502 ACES #5102 Hello, In school I am doing a project on custom consoles, aftermarket, and stock consoles. I need to research the three, find out which is the most useable to the driver, and how much each cost. I need to ask a huge favor to anybody that has these. If you could fill out a little survey for me, it would be greatly appreciated. For Custom Consoles: Did you make it? How long did it take? How much money did it cost? What features does it have(cup holders, etc)? Why did you pick this over Aftermarket and Stock consoles? For Aftermarket Consoles: Who made the console? How much was it? What features does it have? Re: [Chevelle-List] Car Console's
I have 2 '66 SS Chevelles, one with a stock 4-sp console, the other with either a stock auto or 4-sp console, depending on what tranny goes into it. I have inserted other comments below. Re: [Chevelle-List] Car Console's
Tim, For many years I used a custom console in my 67. Did you make it? Yes I made it How long did it take? Took about 3 days How much money did it cost? Cost about $25 (1979 money) What features does it have(cup holders, etc)? Had a place for the 2 speed powerglide floor shifter, 2 cup holders and a small compartment for storage. Why did you pick this over Aftermarket and Stock consoles? Didnt have the money to purchase one... so I built one. ... Heck I was only 16... :) Donnie - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [Chevelle-List] Car Console's
Tim, I have a stock 4 speed console in my 68 that came with the car. The only feature is the storage compartment. It is in good shape & I like the way it looks. Since the interior is completely stock I prefer a stock console. If I had a radical custom interior then I'd go with a custom console. Money is irrelevant when working on these cars. It just means you have to save longer & crimp more. Don > Hello, > > In school I am doing a project on custom consoles, aftermarket, and stock consoles.
