Re: [Chevelle-List] looking for a straight answer

Casting numbers while determine 2 or 4 bolt mains. Without my book in
front of me I believe the 2 bolt main blocks are 960 and the 4 bolt main
blocks are 961. Considered a high performance option like the 396/375
HP, the '66 396/360 HP and '67 396/350 HP had only 2 bolt mains.

'66 SS #'s matching 360 HP option

The best way to check is get the casting number off block in question and
check it on the Mortec site.. there are definitely some casting numbers
that can be either 2 or 4 bolt , 4 bolt being for the high HP version of
the
engine and 2 bolt for the low HP version..375hp sb a 4 boltFWIW

Are 396 375hp all 4 bolt main blocks? Or did some come as 2bolts. I
have
been told both. Just looking for clarification.

 All 375hp's were 4 bolt...a few 350hp's were also 4 bolt but mostly 2
bolt.
