RE: Re: [Chevelle-list] Favorite Muffler System?
Hi Pete, When I first put my Vette together, I used 2.5 Dynomax Ultraflow mufflers. They sounded very good and had a nice rumble without sounding tinny but at the time were too quiet for my taste. I ended up switching to a pair of two chamber Flowmasters, which by the way, I getting tired of. On the other hand, I have 3.5 in/3 out Spin Tech truck/rv mufflers on my El Camino. Even though these mufflers are pretty loud, I love how my Elky sounds. Let's say you wanted the sound of an early 60's 327 w/ factory duals. What would you use? To my ears Flowmaster is out. So are glass packs. Maybe a pair of the quiet turbo mufflers you see in Summit or Jeg's? Pete Geurds Douglassville, PA

You know, Herb, I think you described what I'm after, a nice sound that I can live with in a daily driver. --and sweetie won't object to riding in - ;) This is a 283 and w/ 2 barrel and single exhaust and when it's time I'll go to a factory style dual to complement the edelbrock intake and small four barrel. Thanks. Pete Geurds Douglassville, PA

Why would Flowmasters be out? Try a pair of their Big Block series mufflers for quiet running. I can't claim I've heard every variation of Flowmaster muffler but from what I've heard it's not quite what I want. Not a glass pack fan either. My thinking is tainted by tinkering on inline sixes as there are some combinations on a six that are downright awful. (dual turbos come to mind-think Cessna at take-off) I guess I should start paying attention at cruse nights and shows and if I hear something I like find out what they're running. That's cool Pete I like the cessna analogy - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, April 22, 2004 11:45 AM Subject: Re: Re: [Chevelle-list] Favorite Muffler System?
