yes, this is something we must go deep now. can you be more specific,

The files that are part of mpeg2enc and toolame, and much of what is

I have a question to Herman...

Do you know if yuv4mpegpipe contains some proprietary components or is
it pure GPL (or it could be if GPL boilerplate was added)?

All the best!

The support was introduced with fileyuv.C:
http://svn.skolelinux.no/websvn/filedetails.php?repname=cinelerrapath=%
2Ftrunk%2Fhvirtual%2Fcinelerra%2Ffileyuv.Crev=0sc=0

and fileyuv.h, by Nathan Kurz.

The revision history for fileyuv.C:
http://svn.skolelinux.no/websvn/log.php?repname=cinelerrapath=%2Ftrunk%
2Fhvirtual%2Fcinelerra%2Ffileyuv.Crev=0sc=0isdir=0

Nathan, do you still read this mailinglist?
Just checking: You knew that the code tree you extended
was GPL-ed, right?

well, they allways released their code as free software but without

it seems that heroin people dont really want to be bothered about

Many distributions will want the app to use the installed libraries
instead of bundling its own, too.

[CinCVS] ubuntu packages and heroine permission to GPL files

2006-12-05 Thread muzzol

hi!

as some of you already know, ubuntustudio is interested in cinelerra.
they asked me to mantain the package to include it on multiverse repository.

one of the problems with cinelerra was licensing issues with heroine's
code. well, this is no more a problem because adam willians from heroine
have answered a mail with explicit permission to include licensing on
every file:

Yes. You have permission to add GPL's to the files. Ubuntu packages
have been distributed this way for 4 years without any problem. Go get
Shuttleworth another space flight.

i dont really understand that sarcasm and i think ubuntu is only 3 years
old. but anyway, we can focus now in making a good package without
licensing hassle. i remember someone refered to a debian's bug regarding
this problem.

i think it would be great to create a relationship with ubuntustudio,
this could be a great step for cinelerra. in just few days they showed
me a very good feelings and i really invite anyone to join #ubuntustudio
on freenode and share experiences.

i'll keep list in touch of any further details on this matter.
