RE: Books for CCIE [7:30994]
Hi, Maybe because I have CCNP and CCDP the books I used to pass the CCIE written were quite different than those listed by others. I guess it depends on experience. My list: 1) CCIE Study Guide - Sybex (Swartz and Lammle) 2) Purchased the cciebootcamp - CCIE written exam prep 3) Purchased all 4 CCNP exam crams. 4) Took each exam topic from the written blueprint and printed out from Cisco website an overview of each topic. Created a 350 page study guide. The books listed such as Doyle,Caslow,Halabi,Clark and about four or five others I will be reading and studying for the LAB. Best of luck. Hi, I know there is a Lab Swap Forum but believe this forum has a higher visibility. I have a Friday,June 20th lab date in RTP (R&S). Need to swap with someone who has a May 16th or May 23rd RTP date. If anyone is interested please email me asap. Thanks very much for your time. RE: Workbook homelab ? [7:65161]
Hi, I have not passed the Lab yet. My date is in June. Below is a home lab that I have assembled. It all depends on how much you can afford to spend. With this equipment I can do the CCbootcamp, IPexpert, Hello and Routopia labs at home. The only thing is that for ATM I will have to rent rack time. I have all four workbooks. When I bought the IPexpert workbook they provided four free 6.5 hour sessions of rack time. I've went through each workbook and website to obtain the rack specifications. Then I drew a diagram for each workbook and with the equipment I have I can cable up my rack once at the start of each workbook and perform all the required labs. With the exception of the 2-2501's and the 2924 switch which I borrowed from a friend, every other item listed was bought off Ebay. Routers, switches, modules,ISDN, cables etc. You have to be dilligent and shop for the best price. I never had a single problem with the Ebay auctions. All equipment arrived in a 100% working condition. Total spent on Ebay was close to 7 grand. Excellent price for all this equipment. Again, I am fortunate to be able to afford this, barely. My credit cards are maxed out and for my last purchase (the 2 3550 switches)I had to take a loan out. Best of luck. RE: ATM for Practice Lab [7:65087]
Hi, Just yesterday I was wondering the same thing. I checked into getting ATM for my home lab and the cheapest I came up with was $1,500.00 for all needed equipment. Check Horizondatacom.com - Cisco Lightstream 100 - $495.00 They have 2 available. Check Ebay - 2 4500M (165.00 each). One seller has six of these for sale. No modules, however 16/16 with 12.0 IOS. Do the following search from the Ebay main page - cisco 4500m. This auction will end in 19 hours from now (time now is 3:30 pm EST) Check Ebay - 1 seller has a np-1a-sm for an unbelievable $200.00 and another seller has a np-1a-sm for $425.00. Do the following search from the Ebay main page - cisco np-1a-sm. The first guy's auction ends 3/13. It depends on how your finances are. I mulled over whether to buy but decided to use an online rack rental for ATM. Best of luck. RE: FrameRelay dlci + IP address [7:65713]
Hi, To get a basic frame-relay network up perform the following: 1) Use your 2521 as Frame Switch - you have it configured already 2) Use 4 routers for your frame-relay network 3) Physically cable the 4 routers to the 2521: 2521 S0 (DCE) to R1 S0 (DTE) 2521 S1 (DCE) to R2 S0 (DTE) 2521 S2 (DCE) to R3 S0 (DTE) 2521 S3 (DCE) to R4 S0 (DTE) The way your 2521 is currently configured R1 will be a Hub router and R2,R3 and R4 will be spokes. If you will be using 2500's as your spoke routers I would change the clockrate on S0 and S1 on your 2521 to 64000. I usually just use 64000 but that is a matter of choice. What is listed next is a basic config for each of your routers. These configs should get your frame-relay network running with no frills. I will just use physical interfaces on all the routers and inverse arp. The final topology will be hub and spoke all in one network. R1 ! int s0 description To 2521 Serial 0 encapsulation frame-relay ip address 150.150.1.1 255.255.255.248 frame-relay interface-dlci 112 frame-relay interface-dlci 113 frame-relay interface-dlci 114 no shut exit ! ! R2 ! int s0 description To 2521 Serial 1 encapsulation frame-relay ip address 150.150.1.2 255.255.255.248 frame-relay interface-dlci 211 no shut exit ! ! R3 ! int s0 description To 2521 Serial 2 encapsulation frame-relay ip address 150.150.1.3 255.255.255.248 frame-relay interface-dlci 311 no shut exit ! ! R4 ! int s0 description To 2521 Serial 3 encapsulation frame-relay ip address 150.150.1.4 255.255.255.248 frame-relay interface-dlci 411 no shut exit ! __ To verify connectivity do the following: 1) On the 2521 - show frame route You should see all the connections active 2) On R1 - show frame map You should see three dynamic mappings to your spokes - show frame pvc You should see 3 active and used DLCI's (112,113,114) 3) On your spoke routers R2,R3 and R4 - show frame map You should see one dynamic mapping to your hub - show frame pvc You should see 1 active and used DLCI 4) Ping from your hub to each spoke 5) Ping from each spoke to your hub With these configs you will not be able to ping spoke to spoke. If you want this capability just add frame-relay map statements on each of your spokes pointing to the other spokes. Let me know if you are successful. Once you get the frame network up and running then the fun really begins. Proceed to configure routing protocols like EIGRP and OSPF over your frame network. Best of luck. OSPF NSSA [7:66957]
Hi to all, I have a question that I think I know the answer but need feedback to make certain. Here is the scenario: R1 - S1 (Area 0) R1 - S0(Area 1) to R2 S0(Area 1) ! R2 - S1 (Area 2) to R3 S1 (Area 2) If R2 and R3 Area 2 are defined as a NSSA will I still need a virtual-link for Area 2? I would have to think yes, virtual-link is needed. Thanks very much. Re: OSPF over FR [7:70025]
Catherine, You forget to define ospf network type in each frame interface. Add this interface config command: ip ospf network point-to-point Thank, Rivalino Exactly right but you will have to do 2 more things: 1)Since you changed the hello-interval to 30 on Router A's point-to-point subinterfaces you will have to do the same for Router B and Router C's interfaces. 2) Remove the neighbor statement from Router B and Router C's OSPF process. Not needed. So just add the "ip ospf network point-to-point on Routers B and C frame relay physical interface and do steps 1 and 2. Best of luck.
