RE: VLAN on 1750 router [7:12024]
I thought you could, but checked the feature navigator on CCO http://www.cisco.com/go/fn and it looks like a 2600 running IP Plus is the lowest end router that would. Re: routers for home lab
That looks like a pretty good start. When you do some larger lab scenarios you will probably need a few more. In the end I had 9 routers in my home lab. The ccbootcamp labs have several labs with 8-9 routers. If I was you I would add a 2502. You can get them real cheap and you'll have another token ring router besides your 2523. If you got the money you could add a router with voice like a 1750 or a 2600. Passed the written
I passed the written today! I guess I prepped for it pretty well since it didn't seem very hard. I got an 88. On to the lab. Jim **NOTE: New CCNA/CCDA List has been formed. Re: E1 back-to-back ?
Ethernet uses pins 1,2,3,6. You should loop pin 1 to 3 and 2 to 6. A T1 uses pins 1,2,4,5. Re: 2948G-L3 troubles
Lorenzo, Well the first thing I'm thinking is that your trunk ports on the 2948-G-L3 should not be in a specific bridge group. You might want to look and see how spanning tree is looking on both devices. Show span on the 2948g-L3 and show spantree vlan on the 2948g. There are several other show commands that are handy. How long did you wait after plugging the PC in to the port before pinging? Spanning tree may not have finished running before you tried to ping. Give it at least 45 seconds after plugging it in. The other thing you will probably want to do is integrated routing and bridging on the 2948-G-L3. This uses the interface BVI. http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/l3sw/2948g-l3/rel_12_0/7wx51 5a/config_g/bridging.htm#xtocid38394 Jim ___ UPDATED Posting Guidelines: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/guide.html FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Answer to IAS question
Sorry I don't remember the exact subject line. Here's the run down on how to use Microsoft IAS (Internet Authentication Service) to have Cisco devices authenticate using RADIUS. IAS comes in the NT option pack. On the Service tab use the same port numbers that you have configured on the Cisco device. I think 1645 is the default for authentication and 1646 is for accounting. On the Clients tab add in the device that you are setting up RADIUS on. Make sure the shared secrets match. Under the Profiles tab the only attribute name/value pair you need is "Service-Type - Authenticate Only" Jim ___ UPDATED Posting Guidelines: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/guide.html FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Radia Perlman's Interconnections
I know I have read from several posters that Radia Perlman's Interconnections book is a great book. Are we talking about the first or 2nd edition or both? I found the first edition on a bookshelf at work, but it was copyrighted in 1992. Seems kinda old, but thumbing through the book most of the concepts still seem valid. Is this edition worth reading or should I skip it for the 2nd edition? back to back CSU/DSU
Does anybody have any idea on the distance limitation on connectingtwo CSU/DSU's back to back using cat 5? I guess this would basically be the distance you can extend a T1 without boosting the signal. I have two buildings connected by cat 5 and it's about 900 feet so I was wondering if I could just connect them using a T1 crossover cable. Jim
Passed support 2.0
I passed support 2.0 last week for my last test for CCNP. I got an 873 with 692 being the passing score. Everyone complained so much about the old CIT test being so poorly worded, I took the new version. I thought it was a very well worded test with littleambiguity. I have several years of troubleshooting experience which came in real handy. As a matter of fact, without a bunch of experience or LOTs of lab time I don't believe this test will easily be passed. I read the Cisco Press CIT book, Priscilla's CIT flash cards, and Boson CIT test #2. (There are 3, so I justpicked one). Headn'on to CCDP.
