RE: 1760s [7:39338]

2002-03-24 Thread Mark Odette II

... Speaking of memory add-on. I heard this rumor the other day that Cisco
has a new plan for addressing the ability to by third-party DRAM and FLASH
for their products, and the plan is the following:

For all NEW products that they introduce to market (Routers, Switches,
Firewall appliances that aren't in production at this time), they are going
to release them with memory that is 100% proprietary and can't be purchased
on the open retail market.

Does anybody know if this has fact to it??

If so, would the 1760 be considered one of the units that are part of the
new product line with the proprietary memory in it??

Inquiring minds would really like to know :)

They're shipping in limited quantities. I sold three to a customer where
they still sit in the box. If you're looking to buy and think you'll want
more memory, get the 1760-V. It has more memory for less than purchasing
add-on memory from Cisco.

I'm not sure they're shipping yet. They're the same as a 1751, but the can
hold 1 more card and they have same 2600 chassis.
