Re: The value of Pi (?)
--- New Message on cochindotnet --- From: spark Message 2 in Discussion tried you value of Pi, it is nice. it is calculating 5000 deimal places while I am typing. 2 suggestions - try put this up in the documents section of our group so that other folk can see this as a winforms sample, preferably with source - we could have page where members contributions/examples could be linked back to your personal site, this way you'd have more people looking at the work you have done. either way not many folk outside the .net world realise how flexible and powerful winforms are so a few examples would get attention. Maybe You can add an entry under our Getting .Net page with a title as "Latest', that way it would be listed above the other sources. And after the relevant period is over we can simply delete them. rosh --- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/cochindotnet/_emailsettings.msnw Need help? Re: The value of Pi (?)
--- New Message on cochindotnet --- From: Rakesh Rajan Message 5 in Discussion Thanks a lot Dolly! Usage of multiple threads is one definite thing I will be implementing in the final release. Thanks for the comment. The alg used in finding fractions is extremely simple, down-to-earth and i would even say quite unprofessional. As described in the 'help' section, I am working on it to make it more optimized. As of now, the alg works like this: I have 2 nested loops, the toppest one looping the Dividened values and the nested one looping the Divisor values. In each case, the value for division is found out and compared to that of the value of Pi calculated in the first tab page. If they are a approx the same, it's added to the list control. See? It's quite simple. Accurate values are hard to get in short ranges if the number of decimal places of Pi used is above 4. So decrease the number of decimals and try it out again. Values popping into the list control is indeed quite exiting to watch :-) Warm regards, Rakesh --- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/cochindotnet/_emailsettings.msnw Need help? Re: The value of Pi (?)
--- New Message on cochindotnet --- From: mail2dolly Message 4 in Discussion Rakesh, good app. Keep up the good work. My comments: I tried for 3000 places. As it was calculatiung I switched between the tabs, the start button in Pi Fractions was disabled (Can't this be enabled ina separate thread?) until the first tab completed its calculation. Also, I gave some nos in Dividend and Divisor and it said *** no. of possibilities on the left pane, but nothing showed up in the right??? I tried for different nos, same result..right pane remains blank.. The app does look good! I am yet to look at your algo.. Re: The value of Pi (?)
--- New Message on cochindotnet --- From: Rakesh Rajan Message 3 in Discussion Thanks a lot rosh! I had deleted my old site and am developing a new one. As soon as I have it up and running, I will link ALL my .NET works from here. In fact, I am thinking of developing some small utils like these for grabbing attention as u had said. Anything for .NET ! :-) Warm regards, Rakesh Rajan --- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/cochindotnet/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
