WSOD (ticket #1841) (unofficial) survey question
Hi, I am one of those who are affected by the WSOD issue. Until about 2 months ago, I was never affected by it, but now if my display is blanked for over 15 minutes I get the WSOD. After looking over the comments in the WSOD ticket and considering my own experience, I am wondering is this not a damage issue. You see, around 2 months ago my phone was knocked from my hand onto the pavement. At the time I considered myself lucky that the screen did not crack, and noticed no issues. But two comments in the ticket history got my wondering: The first is a comment by leachim that the problem went away after the physical display screen was replaced; and the second was a comment by jurg saying that he stopped seeing the WSOD if he kept the phone warm. My phone does not exhibit the WSOD problem if it is warm. I did this test by leaving the phone on top of a cheap DVD player which has a warm patch, suspending the phone for an hour, resuming, suspending for 3 hours, resuming, removing the phone from the heat source, suspending for 1 hour and resuming. The WSOD problem only manifested only the final resume. Without heat, the WSOD issue always mainfiests after 15 minutes or more of screen blanking. I used suspend to make sure that the screen is blanked, but I don't believe suspend/resume is the cause - I think it is related to blanking. I previously have found and fixed mechanical faults with electrical systems that present or disappear with heat as components come into or out of contact due to heating, so I am wondering if there is a possible damage issue here. My question is: For those of you who experience the WSOD issue: Have you ever dropped your phone? If you would be so kind as to reply off-list, I'll post the results in a week. Regards, Greg. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

Hi Greg, I have a brand new device (2 weeks old!) and sinve I installed 2008.9 i do face WSOD. Never dropped the device! This issue is a show stopper as it prevents to use it as a phone. to the developers: PLEASE give the highest priority to that. selling my Freerunner
Hi, as I hardly ever found enough time to play around with my FR I now decided to sell it. Its the original GTA02 (bought August 2008) and comes with the default goodies: headset (unused), laser stylus, phone pouch, 512MB microSD Card, adapter, USB connectivity cable, etc. If interested, please send me an email. I would preferably sell it to somebody in Germany due to lower shipping costs. cheers, Katrin ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

minimo segfaults when surfing to ssl sites with non-standard ports
To be able to use the wireless lan in my college I have to authenticate myself thrue an ssl encrypted site. When I use minimo for that (the only browser that knows something about ssl on the freerunner) it segfaults. Attached to this mail is the output file of #wget http://www.google.be . You can see the browser will be redirected to an ssl-encrypted site on port 8081, at which point minimo segfaults. I don't get the chance to see the authentication form. When I am completely connected to the internet and i surf to a self hosted ssl-site on port 44344 it also segfaults. This is particularly nasty because now I can't use the internet at all in my college. Alternative, you can use https://hiciu.rootnode.net/freerunner/enlightenment-all-in-one_0.16.999.050_armel.tar.gz. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

That would imply unencrypted. That sounds quite unlikely, even if you had configured your GSM to send the data without encryption how would your analog TV set decompress the digital (and compressed) audio stream? It might have been a hoax as well. If I remember it right, it was the operator's fault. From the video footage, only some words were understandable. On the other hand, I remember watching encoded audio + video from a locked channel with a satellite tuner. The quality is *very* poor, but it can be understood at times. I believe nowadays TV sets are sold with the circuitry to decode digital data (the switching to digital land infrastructure), but I don't remember if it was the case there. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community it isn't just a operator-fault. http://wiki.thc.org/gsm#head-1d4386f26b54c1890bdb6b181b6293c3b9b5af62 i read a article about this group. they could crack gsm-connection's in 2 hours without some cleartext. another issue in my eyes is the possibility of the provider to listen all calls, read all sms. i think, it isn't so much work to make a symetric crypt-possibility for special peoble as example (person a say's person b the code directly, so both ore more invited peoble's know the key and could encode/decode the messenges).. in my eyes, security is very important, and privacy in the mobile-phone-world doesn't exist. if i had enough time and expirience, i would programm by myself, but until i had this, it's could been 1-3 years later. :/ - -- Vinzenz Hersche Lehrling 2. Re: WSOD (ticket #1841) (unofficial) survey question
* Greg [EMAIL PROTECTED] [081109 11:16]: Hi, I am one of those who are affected by the WSOD issue. Until about 2 months ago, I was never affected by it, but now if my display is blanked for over 15 minutes I get the WSOD. lucky you - I get WSoD when suspended/blanked for more than 1 minute ;) And this from the beginning when I got my freerunner in august. I immediately reflashed it, so I don't know, if the original 2007 stack would have shown the WSoD also... I just tried the warm theory and put my freerunner sleeping on a warm and cosy place - resumed after 5 minutes and got a nice WSoD. Never dropped it. If you would be so kind as to reply off-list, I'll post the results in a week. Regards, Greg. Thank you for doing this Mok ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

Does anybody know where I should start looking for a solution, or anybody who knows a workaround to get authenticated? I have this too. It seems an issue linked to the libcurl/libgnutls libraries in OpenEmbedded (or Openmoko). Give a look to this [1].
