[Compiz] [Bug 1200829] Re: Regression: Enabling typical bindings in Desktop-based Viewport Switching breaks scrollwheel scrolling in some windows with a usb mouse on a laptop
After some debugging and looking over the vpswitch plugin code, I really fail to understand how this is the fault of the plugin. When the binding is in place, the code does some checking to make sure the mouse pointer is over the desktop window and if not, just return false. Nothing of significance has changed in this plugin for some time. I tried your test-scroll PPA and it does indeed fix this issue, so that is even more evidence that this is a Gtk issue. It seems https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=703062 is the real root of this issue. The patch that fixed that has been merged upstream and we need to get it into Ubuntu as well. ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #703062 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=703062 ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #703062 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=703062 ** Changed in: gtk Importance: Medium = Unknown ** Changed in: gtk Status: Confirmed = Unknown ** Changed in: gtk Remote watch: GNOME Bug Tracker #699574 = GNOME Bug Tracker #703062 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1200829 Title: Regression: Enabling typical bindings in Desktop-based Viewport Switching breaks scrollwheel scrolling in some windows with a usb mouse on a laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1200829/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 1200829] Re: Regression: Enabling typical bindings in Desktop-based Viewport Switching breaks scrollwheel scrolling in some windows with a usb mouse on a laptop
Sorry for the misinformation in my last post. I got totally confused by the diff in your PPA and thought it was the padding that fixed this, but that is already in Ubuntu. I was just trying to figure out exactly what was reverted in your PPA that makes this work again. I still do suspect it's a Gtk issue in that it doesn't like how Compiz does the scroll binding. ** Changed in: gtk Remote watch: GNOME Bug Tracker #703062 = GNOME Bug Tracker #699574 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1200829 Title: Regression: Enabling typical bindings in Desktop-based Viewport Switching breaks scrollwheel scrolling in some windows with a usb mouse on a laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1200829/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 1238114] [NEW] Compiz causes Motif dialog window shrunk
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 13.10 64bit version. Nedit is a text editor based on Motif and I have used it for many year on various systems (Redhat *, OpenSuSe *, Ubuntu 9.10 ~13.04) and never have any major problem. However, after I ugraded my OS from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10, I noticed some wierd things related with the dialog window. For example, if I press ctrl+F (shortcut for Finding string in file.), the dialog appears normal. However, as I use the finding function more and more, the dialog window appears in a smaller and smaller size. So for me it seems something wrong with the compiz in Ubuntu 13.10, becuase I don't have the same problem in Ubuntu 13.04. You can find Nedit in Ubuntu's Software Center. If you need any information, please let me know. Thank you. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1238114 Title: Compiz causes Motif dialog window shrunk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1238114/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Doug, I think I have a fix in Gtk. I seems to work locally. I'm building a package in ppa:townsend/gtk-testing. Do you think you can try that package out (once built/published) and see if it works for you as well?
