Re: [Cooker] XFree86 still a bit strange
Start something like morph 3D from Mesa-demos. It will run at top speed for about 10 seconds, then it will slow to a crawl. Now move the mouse around, anywhere on the screen will do. Morph 3D will run at full speed again as long as the mouse is moving. Stop moving the mouse at it will slow to a crawl again ! It appears that all Mesa 3D demos, 3D screensavers etc. all slow to a crawl after about 10 seconds I tried it on a Mandrake 7.0 heavily cookerized, Riva128, no problem. On Cooker, S3-Trio / SVGA server, no problem. Mesa-3.1-11mdk, tried the menu entries Multimedia/Graphics. I think this may come from your X server.. What is it ? -- Guillaume Cottenceau

I have play around a little and the found out the following: The problem is IN THE "insmod_ /tmp/initio.o" I have tried to start installation and the manually extracted module to /tmp and tried to manually load it with insmod_ initio.o, SUPRISE SUPRISE: Controler is detected, BUT THEN insmod just WON'T EXIT! It freezes!! Other consoles run along but insmod freezes... Since I know this controler works just GREAT normally I tried and loaded same module with "insmod -f" under my running kernel. Everything worked OK! Even if module I used was compiled for the "installation" kernel I think the problem must be in some option in the installation kernel. Is the PROBE ALL LUN'S on (scsi)?? Hi, I am trying a fresh network install with the current cooker (the first screen is really cool!), but the dhcp request does not receive the answer. I know the dhcp server since everyone uses it. I also know the net card module works fine since the install goes when I use a fixed IP. cu, =-= kk1 (Following lines are not from me). -- Linux est libre, et vous ? Ok this has been fixed for the last ghostscript upload to cooker. The best ghostscript-XXX is now chosen. François.

[Cooker] attempt to install latest failed
Using the network install right after the second stage install I get a signal 9 and then the install stops. on terminal 3 it says symlink /tmp/stage2 failed there doesn't appear to be any other errors. Also is there some kind of minimum ram requirements. The machine that I'm trying to install to only has 24 megs of ram.
