Re: Re:[Cooker]Internet Connection using a cable-modem
It gave me a list of ethernet cards during the install and I just picked the one that was mine. After that it asked if I wanted to use DHCP and I said yes. Re: Re:[Cooker]Internet Connection using a cable-modem
Thats wrong. DHCP works on my cable modem just fine. All you do is select your Eternet card from a list and it asks you if you want to use DHCP and you anwser yes. Thats how I do my installs of linux. And to add to that, my IP is dynamic. Re: [Cooker] GUI Install Problems
Falling back to text mode will tick many users off. Especially those that dont know how to use linux or those that want an easy install. Its also bad press/reviews. Just more stuff people can say that doesnt work. Anyways thanks for those that are trying to get it to work, I hope soon I can try new floppy images and test out the GUI install. Re: [Cooker] Mandrake's only mistake
Why dont you do it yourself? Borrow RH's KDE RPMS and install them? It cant be too hard. Also theres no reason to complain just because there not in the directory where *YOU* want them. [Cooker] GUI Install Problems
I downloaded the GUI Network floppy image from ftp and made the floppy disk. When I boot up on the floppy the mandrake logo came up near the top of the screen and all these red lines appeared in the background. Well I preceded to wait for the light to go off on the floppy drive and nothing happens when it does. No install no nothing, just stays at the logo. When I press a key the light goes on as if its trying to read something on the floppy. But it just stays at the logo. Anyone know whats going on? System info: Video: I740 supported by XFree and has VESA support Memory: 96MB CPU: Celeron 400 Thanks, Sam
