Oh, BTW, are you using 2.1 or the 2.2 betas (or KDE CVS)? If your using 2.1, pixie is much slower. I made the thumbnail manager faster by an order of magnitude after KDE2.1. Pixie is still kindof slow at generating thumbnails, but I challenge you to find anything faster at displaying existing ones ;-) I can load a directory of 2000 of them in just a few seconds. May also want to check if you have preview thumbnails enabled for anything. A directory should show up almost immediately, but then it takes awhile to generate thumbnails if there are any. J . A . BTW, it may be a good idea to update the ATI and fb stuff from CVS. Keith Packard made some hacks that allows the new Render extension to be run on ATI Mach 64 cards, which are pretty popular. It had to happen right after 4.0.2 because of the freeze. Yes. Right now it only handles icons, wallpapers, color schemes, and sounds. I am preparing the KWin code for handling the KDE1.x KWM themes, and as soon as that's done Waldo Bastian will add that to the new theme manager. Just so you all know, the freeze is finally lifted from KDE CVS. I just committed a better standard look and feel for KWin, and will be committing quite a few new widget style enhancements to KDE CVS over the weekend. At the very least the new KWin stuff should go into Cooker.

Actually, it's the configure that generates the version number, not the code itself. We can update that but don't worry - it doesn't affect anything but the version string.
