Well I've discovered the problem - the images initrd.nt and network.img do NOT have the parport and parport_pc modules included! I cannot find compatible modules to include in the modules.cgz file to go with the kernel (insmod keeps failing). Please correct this. There is no other way to install on many simpler laptops.
