The prices really are generaly comparable unless of course you live in one of those places where satalite telephones are a must. anyways, so like if the difference is greater than 1 to 1.5 shipping maybe cheeper than buying localy and paying taxes.

I wouldn't have less than 128megs. 386 or 1gig of real ram. At current prices 254 megs of hd cost like 2$us. I personaly can't recommend any less than 128 with todays uses.

I was just referring to the cases where the swap file ends up being 200+ MB (which at least for most "normal" users is quite a bit excessive and a big waste of space). >-- >MandrakeSoft http://www.mandrakesoft.com/ > --Axalon --- Sanjay Sheth [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'll try that on the next install. Thx Heath

DrakX has special code to handle this situation. And as far as i just retested, it works!

I created new users using the same name as the previous users (thus reusing the old user's dirs), but the install gave them new uid's. So when I tried to log in to my old account, I had no permissions to write to my account, which I believe is necessary when starting kde. You may want to check if your normal user account is owned by the user you think is supposed to own it. If this isn't the problem, I don't know what it might be. But because root can log in, I wouldn't be surprised if its permissions-related. -Scott
[Cooker] New Install of Oxygen - Few things....
Greetings, I just installed Oxygen 7.2 (iso dated 99.12.24) on my PC, as a fresh install. Noticed the following point: (Sorry if they've been covered before, I've just joined the listserv) 1) When Installing, if it detects existing Linux partitions, it would not let me create new/more. 2) LinuxConf - While adding a user, if "Help" is brought up, the screen is corrupted (goes solid blue) when help is closed. 3) "Normal" user is unable to run X successfully. Root has no problems, but when a regular user starts X, the server loads, the screen goes blue with an "X" cursor, but the KDE desktop never appears (some drive activity, but no desktop) I can provide more details (i.e. System specs, etc) if helpful. Thanks Heath "For a moment, nothing happened. Then, after a second or so, nothing continued to happen." --Douglas Adams
