Hmm, haven't had a look at rpmdrake, but does rpmdrake *ALWAYS* automatically do a urpmi.update? If not, then it might be the case that the user (for whatever reason) calls urpmi.update manually to later on use the results with rpmdrake. However, it might be nice to add a --switch to urpmi.update which disables fetching of these files. But the default should stay as it is right now. And the messages also shouldn't be surpressed. Dear Francois, i don't fully agree with suppressing messages... they are needed for debug purposes. urpmi launched from rpmdrake should maybe use a special flag to turn on special rpmdrake processing, and this flag could be off by default. urpmi.update has the same problem, it looks for 'descriptions' and 'list' files thus making 2 ftp connexions for each source... all this could be disabled when not called by rpmdrake, humm ? retrieving description file of "cookci"... --19:50:29-- ftp://ftp.ciril.fr/pub/linux/mandrake-devel/cooker/i586/Mandrake/descriptions => `/var/cache/urpmi/partial/descriptions' Resolving proxy.xx.fr... done. urpmi.update doesnt work for me | was: updatingRe: [Cooker] urpmi is looking for file "description"
mhm, then I have no clue why urpmi is still using an old database. For instance I tried to install # urpmi mozilla-js-debugger and urpmi is looking for mozilla-js-debugger-0.9.7-5mdk.i586.rpm: --20:15:01-- ftp://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/Mandrake-devel/cooker/i586/Mandrake/RPMS/mozilla-js-debugger-0.9.7-5mdk.i586.rpm => `/var/cache/urpmi/rpms/.listing' Auflösen des Hostnamen »ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de« fertig. (I tried the latest uprmi-3.3-4mdk) This is not a bug but a features request for rpmdrake, it try to donwload this file even if never used (urpmi doesn't use it). Simply ignore output, I should remove message for that. François.
[Cooker] urpmi is looking for file "description"
Hello, urpmi is looking for the file description, like here: /pub/linux/mandrake-devel/cooker/i586/Mandrake/descriptions but none of the 3 mirrors I use has it at this location. (I tried the latest uprmi-3.3-4mdk) Regards, Helge
