Why isn't there a text based installer?  I think that would be helpful too.  
The 16 meg minimum is kinda high.  Maybe utilizing swap space would be nice.

For now, grab the text-based install.  The graphical install should fall
back to text when there is not enough memory (as is the case w/ 16 MB)
but there appears to be some problems with that.

This sounds like a bad path to go down. It seems that testing both the graphical
and text interfaces would be important.

16 megs is really the basic minimum...

I got the same problem...I think that it doesn't support text based install.  
My video card wasn't recognized and is old.  Um...I've had more problems the 
more I've used it.  Try a different box w/more memory and/or newer video 
card.  
Well, maybe it wasn't the video card b/c i only have 16 megs on that system 
too.  I think it probally is the memory...
