Sorry for this, but you sent me a personal e-mail in swedish and I responded
promptly - but my mail bounced (twice) and said it was not accepted. Your
filter might not accept mail from my personal IP as the return address is at
yahoo.

That's odd..., IIRC I put another address in the reply-to. I get so much spam
from yahoo, and I got tired of it.

Andrej,

This sounds a bit like the problem I had on my old Sparc where I installed
on the external drive and specifying the boot device did not help until I
changed something in the lilo.conf... My failing memory thinks it was
something like init=... If you don't figure it out, I'll be home later
and can fire up the ol' beast and give you more accurate info...

not find second stage (it probably finds but wrong one).

I guess the problem is that BIOS plays nasty tricks with HD number when
booting in this manner, but which? I tried to remap drives without much
 success.

Any ideas? It is ASUS CUSL2 mobo with new Phoenix BIOS (this merge of
 Phoenix and Award).

Can you post both lilo.conf and boot.ini from win ?

TIA.

With an MBR present on the 1st hd to install an MBR on the 2nd hd the 2nd
hd needs to be set as 1st boot device and then install lilo.

Once lilo has installed you can use it to boot to either linux or win from
this drive.

That is what I would recommend.
It allows you to boot to either OS, it makes no changes what-so-ever to the
MBR of your 1st hd.
It is both safer and easier than using the BIOS as a 'bootloader'.
As well as the fact that using the BIOS in such a manner on a regular basis
can cause severe and unrepairable damage to the BIOS itself and once its
gone so is the MOBO.

Is it a joke?
