[Coworking] Re: Proximity & behavior

2016-08-05 Thread Doris Schuppe
That's exactly why I favor a flexible seating in a coworking space. When I
went to a space where "residents" worked here and flexible guests sat
somewhere else, I was disappointed. The residents work more or less in an
office community; me as a guest coworker would interact with people that
know less about the space then the residents. But hey, I would get a lot
more inspiration as any residents.

In the very sense of a flexible coworking space the identified results of
the study in a company setting do not apply to coworking: In an office you
rarely are able to decide *where* you do your work, and who maybe spreads
out "toxic" vibrations in your neighborhood. But in a coworking space with
flexible desks I can choose a different workplace any time without giving
explanations. The work we do in a company might be competitive, in a
coworking space we act collaborative.

On the other hand as a coworking host I should be able to sense some
"toxic" behaviors (which I did working in the enterprise setting) and work
pro-actively on this. Try to get to the point why sb keeps sending out
negative impulses, what makes him/her unhappy. Supporting the search for
strategies to change what bothers him/her. Be positive and supportive,
because as the study pointed out: positive stimulations have a huge effect,
too :)

>
I think in a decade we will see more studies about relationships in
coworking space environments – and I look very positively forward to the
upcoming results. Don't you?

[Coworking] Re: What Makes Coworking Spaces Different From Shared Offices?

2016-08-05 Thread Doris Schuppe
To me it is the community what makes a coworking space special. And the
coworking community stands and falls with the spirit of the hosts. Based on
my experiences I recommend to build a mixed coworker culture - including
*some* startups.

[Coworking] Re: Coworking Day August, 2016

2016-08-05 Thread Doris Schuppe
We asked our coworking community what they would like to do to celebrate
coworking. For this we presented and discussed some ideas and options. In
the end they went for the book sharing event. As we are located in a
touristic area (Mallorca) August is a busy time, people rent parts of their
houses to travelers or do additional jobs at restaurants e.g. That means
people are not too open to many events during the week. We will have free
coworking on Friday, 12th plus a book swap networking from 6pm to 8pm.
If you like to be inspired have a look at our blog entry regarding
International Coworking Day (German/English)

[Coworking] Re: Can you help me find other Woman-Owned Coworking Spaces? Spotlighting for Int'l Coworking Day 2016!

2016-08-02 Thread Doris Schuppe
Hello Laura,

great idea! Here are some female founders from Germany, Switzerland and
Spain:

   - Sina founded in May 2010 *combinat56* in Munich / Germany ->
   http://www.combinat56.de

   - Silke founded (2012?) *Gewächshaus Düsseldorf *in Düsseldorf / Germany
   -> http://www.gewaechshaus-duesseldorf.de/

   - Jenny founded 2013 *Büro Lokal Wil* in Wil / Switzerland ->
   http://www.buerolokal.ch

   - Yvonne founded November 2010 *Garage Bilk* in Düsseldorf / Germany
   -> http://www.garagebilk.de

   - Ana founded (2013?) *Wohaby* in Palma / Mallorca (Spain)
   -> http://wohaby.com

   - Doris (me) founded *Rayaworx* in Santanyí / Mallorca (Spain) in May
2015 together with my husband Rainer -> https://www.rayaworx.eu
After working from coworking spaces in Munich like combinat56 since
2010, in 2013 it came to my mind to move to Mallorca and start a coworking
space for residents as well as travelers next to the sandy beaches in the
   Southeast of the mediterranean island.

Best regards from Europe,
Doris

[Coworking] Coworking Day August, 2016

2016-07-26 Thread Doris Schuppe

International CoworkingDay is around the corner!

*Let's gather inspirations for the upcoming CoworkingDay in August**

   - What are you planning to do to celebrate coworking on that day?
   - What worked well last year?
   - Are you teaming up with coworking spaces in your city/region?
   - Do you plan sth. like a fair with your regular coworkers?
   - ...

*Let's share!*

**speaking of 'upcoming': is it the 9th, the Friday before (5th) or Friday
after (12th)? I feel a bit confused reading so many different dates labeled
CoworkingDay :)*

Regards from Mallorca, Doris

[Coworking] Re: hi everyone.

2016-03-31 Thread Doris Schuppe
Thank you Stefanie, same here: We startet our coworking / coworkation space
May 25th, 2015 – and it is now that I join this group (I was too
Facebook-focussed, sorry). And also a big *THANK YOU *for this great
resource for coworking hosts and for the lively community.

We – a German expat couple from Munich/Cologne – moved Oct 2014 to
Southeast Mallorca to start coworking in a rural area. Our small pueblo
Santanyí got an Internet connection via fibre optics last summer - which is
one of our USP against all the hotels, houses, fincas and so on situated
directly at the coast (3km from us). Our community is still growing: Some
of our coworkers live here like ourselves and drop by occasionaly. One
coworker is 'hibernating' in our town and will go back to Germany in May.
Other coworkers are travelers from Germany, UK, the US, and the next step
will be corporate coworkers living in fincas rented by their companies
around Santanyí. Very interesting perspective.

Check out Rayaworx – we're on Facebook • Twitter • Instagram • Google – and
yes, we participate in the coworking visa program.

Saludos con sol desde Santanyí,
Doris

Maybe Carsten Foertsch of deskmag can help you or take it on deskmag's list
