[Coworking] Re: Coworking in Seattle-

2009-11-02 Thread felicity at cubes

Hi Erin,

Listen to your membership. Also, for us being near where people live
is very important! It has to be just a short extra for them to go
beyond
either their living room or the cafe to come in. Although I know
other
spaces that are right in downtowns away from where people live.
Our members can walk, ride their bikes or drive (but usually not far),
to get to our space. For them being near home allows them to get out
and actually grow connections in the community where they live which
is
an added bonus.

One thing we don't like as much in our SF space as our MV space is
that public transportation
isn't as convenient. Something to think about. We used to be 4
blocks
from the train and our members loved it as did we because we are a
"green" space.

Wishing you great luck. I will be up in Seattle the third week of
November, so
feel free to let me know if I can help in any other way.

Felicity

Thanks Felicity! Super helpful information. Please drop me a note when
you're in Seattle, would love to meet you. We should be doing a Jelly
in the Eastlake neighborhood sometime next week. Talk soon

[Coworking] Re: Coworking in Seattle

2007-03-05 Thread Gregory Heller
The flurry of activity was really just me, no one came forward with any
interest at the time, so, as I mentioned to someone who posted resently on
the coworking blog (in response to my post:
http://blog.coworking.info/2006/12/08/coworking-in-seattle/) that I no
longer have such an immediate need as i left my tiny apartment share and got
a nice sized apartment with a living room to work in. I would still be
interested in talking about coworking, but my need for a space is of more of
a drop in variety at this point.

[Coworking] Re: Coworking in Seattle: anyone doing it? anyone interested?

2006-12-07 Thread Gregory Heller
I just posted a page on the wiki
https://coworking.pbwiki.com/CoworkingSeattle

I looked at two potential spaces today. I am ready to move on this in
January if i have others to help me come up with approx $600 monthly. I am
willing to put in up to 200 a month for the first 3 months to make this
work, i'd like to get the cost down to $100 per person or less though.

If you know of anyone who might be interested, please spread the word.

[Coworking] Re: Coworking in Seattle: anyone doing it? anyone interested?

2007-01-05 Thread MMDeaton

I work from home in Seattle and I would be interested in co-working
space, but my dog would have to come with me - she has separation
anxiety. I would consider helping with start-up costs. I have owned a
business and rented commercial office space in the past, so I am aware
of some of the potential pitfalls.

I work as a contract usability specialist doing user research and
testing, mostly for Web-based applications. I also do writing of
various sorts. I work part-time (semi-retired) and in Summer spend most
of my time at our house in the mountains.

I propose interested people get together to meet.

2007-01-05 Thread MMDeaton

Having now read this post, I would caution against looking for
residential space. The city has ordinances about working in residential
areas. It is nice to think one can work totally under the radar, but
one unhappy neighbor is all it takes.

2007-01-05 Thread chris . messina

That's definitely a good call -- at least abiding by ordinances if you
plan to run your coworking space as a business... that said, Jelly in
NYC got around this essentially by holding "home-work-parties"... heck,
you can have folks over to your home and collaborate!

Have you guys checked out Craigs List for like-minded souls?
