Advice for new machine?

2006-07-19 Thread Gilles Sadowski
Hi.

I should install debian on a new machine with the following
components:

CPU: AMD X2 4200+
MB: Asus A8N SLI Prem
Graphics: ASUS EAX 550
Network: DLINK DGE 530T
Keyboard: Logitech LX700

Is everything supported?

Especially useful would be the driver names for:
- the SATA disk controller
- the graphics card
- the network card (skge?).
- the (cordless) keyboard

Thanks and best regards,
Gilles

Should be fine with a reasonably new kernel. That means etch should be
fine, sarge probably not.

 - the graphics card

Avoid ATI if you like your sanity. Get something nvidia based and you
shouldn't have any trouble.

Well I have used sk98lin/skge based chips before on asus boards, and
they have worked for me.

 - the (cordless) keyboard
Should work the same as a wired one. You might need to fiddle to make
any special keys do anything, but the keyboard itself should work fine.
