Bug#512457: console-setup: [INTL:pt_BR] Brazilian Portuguese debconf templates translation

I wanted to say that the strings are not used *as far as I know* in
the Ubuntu installer. Do they appear during default installs of
 Ubuntu?

Some of them do by default, though not all. Of course, choices are still
untranslated (a long-standing bug, as you know).

 Sounds like a good plan.

I am unsure on how you plan to write the expansion, but it might be
better to have a $default_fs or $default_filesystem instead of an
 unspecific $default.

I actually initially thought $default_fs but then went for brevity.
$default_fs is fine with me if that's what people prefer.

 Great idea!

Wishlist request from a user: Please take care to not restrict it to
 ext3/ext4 only.

I certainly had no intention of limiting it that way; that would be more
effort than not doing so. :-)

For example, in the embedded computing market, it might be nice to be
 able to default to jffs2.

I can only cope with filesystems that partman already supports; it
doesn't support jffs2 yet.

Or, if your chosen mass-storage media is a thumb flash-drive, the
default could be ext2 with the relatime option.

I'm not sure how to deal with options there, unless it's just by the
general /lib/partman/mountoptions/${fs}_defaults file (not supported
yet, will be shortly).

Or, for some other kinds of application environments, XFS or reiser,
 etc.

That would be straightforward since those are well-supported.

Of course it is ignored. The preseed file is loaded _after_ the relevant
 component has already been run.
To get the setting used you have to use the auto mode.

Or booting with console-keymaps-at/keymap=es as a kernel parameter will
work too.

Any objection about backporting it to Lenny?

We determined on IRC that this isn't necessary because the string that
fails to be detected by this broken regex is already detected by a
correct regex two lines earlier. Besides, the whole hppa kernel
detection business is rather inaccurate at the moment; I knocked
together http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.ports.parisc/1242, which
ought to let us do a better job.

Err, except for the way it *is* supported as of partman-basicmethods 40
and partman-partitioning 60 (i.e. six months ago or so). Sorry, I was

The i386 businesscard iso lacks the libaio1-udeb so multipath -l won't
work due to lack of libaio.so.1 and the system fails to detect
multipath. Can the libaio1-udeb be added?

After installing the udeb manually everything works smoothly.

Installation was done in KVM 83 using

Bug#513488: version in Lenny needs to be able to bootstrap Squeeze

2009-01-30 Thread Holger Levsen

What's wrong with using squeezes debootstrap? I remember having done this in
the time of woody and potato...

So I recommnend to downgrade the severity.

Fixing this bug now gives no guarantee whatsoever anyway, that it will be
possible to boostrap squeeze with it during all it's development cycle.

Holger

P.S.: Im writing this mail offline, apologies if this reply is moot tonite
when I'll send it.

I just completed a fairly basic install on an alpha (AlphaStation

Manually setting hostname even when using preseed

2009-01-30 Thread Lucas Brasilino
Hi,

I'm using simple-cdd to make some custom preseeded images of Debian
Etch and I'm running in a problem:
I'd like to D-I ask for hostname. My netcfg/* section in preseed file
was (the others are commented out):

### Network configuration
# netcfg will choose an interface that has link if possible. This makes it
# skip displaying a list if there is more than one interface.
d-i netcfg/choose_interface select auto
d-i netcfg/get_hostname string foo
d-i netcfg/get_domain string bar.org
d-i netcfg/wireless_wep string

So I've commented out:

#d-i netcfg/get_hostname string foo
#d-i netcfg/get_domain string bar.org

And it now sets hostname to 'unassigned'. AFAIK D-I should ask for
hostname and domain

I've also tired to put things like:
d-i netcfg/disable_dhcp boolean true

With no success. After googling a lot around, I found a post[1] with a
guy asking the samething. The answer[2] was that
maybe the issue is the priority. So I've booted the image with those
boot options:

installgui debconf/priority=low (a lot of questions asked)
installgui debconf/priority=medium
installgui debconf/priority=high

And none worked. Is it a bug or I'm missing the point??

Thanks a lot in advance for any direction and help.

Regards
Lucas Brasilino

I've fixed it in debian-cd SVN but I don't think a new full image

Mind to test dailies and check if it works?

The Debian-CD Team has built the images based on RC2 installer and
I'd like to ask for some tests before we finally announce the release.

 The images are available at
 http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/.lenny_bibble/

Please send feedback to the mailing list (even successful ones).

I could run a few offline tests, under i386 Qemu-KVM:

Netinst CD install = OK

crypto install (dm-crypt) = OK
 - rescue: prompt for passord = OK
 - gtk rescue = OK

32 mb ram install (text)= ok
48 mb ram install (newt)= ok
rescue mode = ok
graphical rescue mode = ok
graphical (gtk) = ok

The pxelinux menu of the following images _looks_ sensible and _seems_ to
provide correct options for all entries:
debian-Lenny-DI-rc2-i386-businesscard.iso
debian-Lenny-DI-rc2-i386-netinst.iso
debian-Lenny-DI-rc2-i386-amd64-source-DVD-1.iso
debian-Lenny-DI-rc2-amd64-i386-powerpc-netinst.iso
(mutli-arch+multi-desktop needs to scroll the menu, but that's a known
behaviour)

Regards,

Franklin

Fatti di cronaca nazionale e
internazionale, economia, politica, tv, spettacoli, sport e cultura.

Alcune notizie del numero di oggi:

Stalking,
presto pene più severe. La Camera approva, ora tocca al Senato

ROMA - La norma sanziona quegli
