Unfortunately it still crashes for me on unstable with a checkout of
yesterday. But it only happens when I use windowmaker, so I don't know
if it us X.org or windowmaker.

No, turning it off was the trick to make it work, Thanks!
I still don't understand why it would work one day, and not the next, but
as far as I'm concerned this bug can be closed.

Thanks for the quick response.

Bug#420720: xserver-xorg-video-mga: X does not start

2007-04-24 Thread Wilfred de Bondt
Package: xserver-xorg-video-mga
Version: 1:1.4.6.1.dfsg.1-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

With the last version of xserver X does not start anymore. Either with
my own xorg.conf file which worked or after I used dpkg-reconfigure to
write a new one.
The last error message is:
(EE) MGA(0): FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO succeeded but modified mode

Kind regards,

After some further research it appears that all applications I tested which
link to libpango create a sigsegv and are thus unusable. Therefore I think
tagging grave is warranted.
