Bug#341395: seperate api docs and configuration samples

It gets applied on the SVN trunk of the asterisk package: http://caio.ueberalles.net/asterisk/1.2.0/caio_splitdocs.diff Btw, the build time here is almost four minutes with the API compilling enable. It's not that bad, I guess. And the common documentation files goes on both packages, actually: asterisk and asterisk-doc. Some people may find them very useful but *do not* want the whole thing to be installed (the big API). The people interested on the API may as well be interested on reading the common docs. Mark Thanks! PS: I thought about to send found to the control bot, but I think that you guys might want to check it first, if it handles things as you want. -- Caio Begotti (caio1982) http://caio.ueberalles.net -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. It'll build an asterisk-api with the content that would go into the sysdir: /usr/share/doc/asterisk-doc/api/ http://caio.ueberalles.net/asterisk/1.2.0/caio_debian_api.diff I hope it finally solves the big documentation issue from Asterisk guys :) -- Caio Begotti (caio1982) http://caio.ueberalles.net -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. I'm just going to ship the .config examples with the main asterisk package (they are pretty small) and leave the asterisk-doc package to contain all the API details. Package: asterisk Version: 1.2.0-1 Thanks to Caio Begotti for pointing this out. Submitting this in a separate bug report. Asterisk's main configuration reference is the configs/ directory. While officially labeled confiugration examples, it basically contains a rather well-anotated and rather well set of configuration files. Those files are around So this is rather essential documentation ot every admin trying to configure an Asterisk system. OTOH, the API documentation are a huge pile of html files and graphs. They may be of some use for developers, but not for most sysadmins. The dedicated work of the asterisk documentation team has inflated the size of the API directory to ~75MB .
