Normally it should be faster to use the mmaping code path. Do you have
some weird filesystem or somehing else weird in your kernel? :) What
call in the strace output caused the slow output? msync()?

Hi,

I had been taking a look at the strace output myself, and found that
adding 'mmap_disable = yes' to dovecot.conf makes the performance
problems go away.
