Yer, thanks, that sorted it out... just did a purge and reinstall of the package

That error message isn't particularly intuitive to me... but hey.

 Maybe your fdi files are broken somehow. Please reinstall hal-info and
 make sure you don't have any broken configuration data in /etc/hal/fdi.

Maybe your fdi files are broken somehow. Please reinstall hal-info and

And I have to ctrl-c it, to stop it. I have also tried purging 
and reinstaling the package, same problem
