Here is the procedure I used in case it is of some help. First add

 deb http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20120710T032858Z/ testing main
 non-free contrib

What about just using 295.59 from squeeze-backports?

Bug#679577: Workaround after 302.17-3 landed into testing

2012-07-12 Thread Christophe TROESTLER
Hi,

With version 302.17-3 now in testing, downgrading is made harder.
Here is the procedure I used in case it is of some help. First add

deb http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20120710T032858Z/ testing main
non-free contrib

to /etc/apt/sources.list

Then issue

aptitude install libgl1-nvidia-glx=295.59-1 libglx-nvidia-alternatives=295.59-1
nvidia-alternative=295.59-1 nvidia-glx=295.59-1 nvidia-kernel-dkms=295.59-1
nvidia-kernel-source=295.59-1 nvidia-settings=295.49-1
nvidia-vdpau-driver=295.59-1 xserver-xorg-video-nvidia=295.59-1

To prevent this downgrading to be removed at the next aptitude
safe-upgrade, do:

aptitude hold libgl1-nvidia-glx libglx-nvidia-alternatives nvidia-alternative
nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel-dkms nvidia-kernel-source nvidia-settings
nvidia-vdpau-driver xserver-xorg-video-nvidia

(aptitude search ~ahold to see what packages are on hold).

Best,
C.
