It looks like there are some issues with older kernels appearing currently.
Today I also got bug#745019 also revolving around an older kernel.

I'll try to get both issues done tomorrow - 11pm now :-) .

I'll just uploaded 3.2.24-2 which contains the two backported fixes.

Hope that helps

 Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading, network-manager no longer adds the IP address to the
interface when connecting to a wifi or VPN connection.

The IP addresses are listed in /var/log/syslog, and if I add them
manually to the interface, I am able to connect to the network.

Please send me the configuration for this connection. It is stored in
 /etc/NetworkManager/system-connection/name

I also need a debug log, please run
 NetworkManager --no-daemon --log-level=DEBUG

An output of nm-tool after NM has activated the interface and ifconfig
without you having changed anything manually, would be helpful, too.

Bug#744928: network-manager: Doesn't add IP address to interface on connection

2014-04-17 Thread Omen Nemo
Package: network-manager
Version: 0.9.8.8-6
Followup-For: Bug #744928

After a massive system update from an old setup, I'm also affected by this
problem at every connection attempt: interface addresses and route are not
added.

I can confirm it's related to the redhat bug, in particular comment #32: in
the debugger, skipping the NLA_PUT_U32(msg, IFA_FLAGS, tmpl-a_flags) at
line 601 in build_addr_msg() makes everything work fine.

I understand patches have been sent upstream on April 4.

If you can produce updated binaries, I can test them easily.

Thanks!

Kernel: Linux 3.2.51-xps (SMP w/2 CPU cores)

Seeing that you run an older kernel, this could be related.

Chris is also running an somewhat older kernel, i.e. 3.9 whereas I use
the latest Debian provided kernel (3.13-1-amd64) and most likely due to
that don't run into this issue (thanks Chris, btw, for the detailed bug
report).

Reading the redhat bugzilla [0], this will require both a libnl [1] and
NM [2] fix.

I've CCed Heiko, our libnl maintainer. Heiko, can you update libnl
accordingly and cherry-pick [1]?

Cheers,
Michael

It looks like there are some issues with older kernels appearing currently.
Today I also got bug#745019 also revolving around an older kernel.

I'll try to get both issues done tomorrow - 11pm now :-) .
