At least there are enough hosts maintained by Debian where an official queue could be set up. But that's a topic for -devel and not the log of this bugreport. > Anyone can run a queue with whatever insane value per wants, so it doesn't > make sense to impose a restriction in dput. Sure, but dput doesn't and won't support a queue set up by anyone. The decision which queues are supported will be made by us. Therefor it makes sense to impose a restriction as we will only support the maximum delayed days that sound reasonable to us. And I've yet to see a damn good argument for a delayed upload to a 30-days. (I even think that 21-days is too much.) > If you don't want dput's backend to fail with unexistant directory errors, > then I suggest that you check for existance of directory before uploading. > But in the case of password-based authentication this requires typing the > password twice, which is a bit annoying. And that's one nice reasons why it's a lot easier to check the command line argument for uploading against a defined list of allowed values. That way dput will never fail because the directory is missing. And nobody will ever have to type his password twice. This is being worked on. The problem is actually, that there is no DFSG-free software out there that is capable of batch-generating PDFs in good quality in all languages we'd like to support. The only feasible way might be using LaTeX, for which I have some scripts in beta. However, the problem is still not solved completely, even if we have some nice looking PDFs for most latin-based languages now To the matter of format change: as I see it, DebianDoc is an SGML format while DocBook we are using currently is XML. I hope that we can produce a good solution for PDFs soon, then we might as well propose a change for the Debian Reference and the other documentation. -- Nikolai Prokoschenko [EMAIL PROTECTED] / Jabber: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#293984: Typo and a wrong URL
Package: svn-buildpackage Version: 0.5.12 Severity: minor File: /usr/share/doc/svn-buildpackage/HOWTO.html Hello, in section 4.3 (Working with source) of the svn-buildpackage HOWTO is stated, that "dpkg-buildpackage won't let you proceed if there are suspicious files." This should read "svn-buildpackage won't ...". In Chapter 6, section 1 "Various links" the local link to the subversion book is broken, as (at least in/since subversion 1.1.3-1) the filename is svn-book.html and not book.html. I think it is sound to correct the link, because subversion 1.1.3-1 is already in testing, but maybe filing a bug report against subversion is sensible, too. Bug#293998: [katie] Please 'Announce' always, with bcc
Package: ftp.debian.org Severity: wishlist Currently, in katie.conf announcements are only sent for stable/unstable/experimental, and not for testing. This causes the PTS at least to miss those announcements. Would it be possible to always generate such an announce message to a mailinglist, and/or make sure that the/an annoucemnt is Bcc'd to a specific packages.qa.debian.org incoming email address, namely '_uploads@' (intentionally written so to not help spam harvesters)? If a blocking point is the non-existance of debian-testing-changes, please tell, and I'll prod some listmaster about it, but I think especially because of the infrequency of testing uploads, announcing to debian-devel-changes (for now) would do, also since testing is also 'just' a suite in development, rather than stable. Together we figured out that this was due to changed handling of duplicate templates in the newer versions of xsltproc. So I guess you are using xsltproc from "experimental"? Bug#294010: php-imlib: phpapi revision requires a new upload in sid
Package: php-imlib Severity: grave Tags: sid Due to recent changes in the php4 packages, your package has become uninstallable in sid (as of today's dinstall run, installing php4_4:4.3.10-3). We are now building php4 with "Zend Thread Safety" which both changes the ABI and changes the directory that extensions should be installed into. To build a new package, you need to do three things: 1) build-dep on "php4-dev (>= 4:4.3.10-3)" (you can pull it from incoming to get a head start. Package: php4-dbtcp Severity: grave Tags: sid Due to recent changes in the php4 packages, your package has become uninstallable in sid (as of today's dinstall run, installing php4_4:4.3.10-3). We are now building php4 with "Zend Thread Safety" which both changes the ABI and changes the directory that extensions should be installed into. Furthermore, it has come to my attention while investigating these bug reports that your package doesn't correctly depend on "phpapi-$(version)", as it should. Please see php4-pgsql for an example of how this is supposed to be done. To build a new package, you need to do three things: 1) build-dep on "php4-dev (>= 4:4.3.10-3)" (you can pull it from incoming to get a head start. The buildds already do) 2) ensure that your phpapi dependency has "-zts" tacked to the end of it. for examples on how to do so, see the debian/rules in php4-pgsql_3:4.3.10-1 3) Make sure that your extension installs to the correct directory (you do use `php-config --extension-dir`, don't you?) That should be it. Due to the simplicity and non-intrusiveness of these changes, if I don't see uploads in the next 24 hours, I will happily NMU to fix the affected packages. ... Bug#165635: [Bug java/8608] segmentation fault on compiling bad program
--- Additional Comments From rmathew at gcc dot gnu dot org 2005-02-07 13:06 --- The simplest testcase that reproduces this bug with the current mainline is: class Foo { void bar() { int a; int i; for(i=a;;); } } If the "int i" is removed and the for loop is changed to "for(int i=a;;);", the ICE disappears. -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=8608 --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You reported the bug, or are watching the reporter. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". This is the copy of md5.c fished out of the specification. We've seen it before. There are other variations of md5.c, at least one of which has either a BSD or an MIT license, I forget which. Look around, you should find one easily enough. They're more or less equivalent, you may have to fiddle the function names. -- .''`. ** Debian GNU/Linux ** | Andrew Suffield : :' : http://www.debian.org/ | `. `' | `- -><- | signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#293481: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686: Cannot open root device
Thiemo Seufer wrote: Nigel Stephens wrote: [snip] So what could be preventing the new kernel from even running the linuxrc script, or at the very least preventing it from showing the output from the extra "echo" line which I added to it. This might point to a missing or invalid /dev/console. (At least with udev-managed devices that's not a completely unlikely theory.) I was a bit worried about this message when I diffed my initrd-2.6.6 and initrd.2.6.8 File initrd-2.6.6/dev/console is a character special file while file initrd-2.6.8/dev/console is a character special file Looking in detail I see: shoreditch.root /tmp 2# ls -l initrd-2.6.6/dev/console crw-rw 1 root root 5, 1 Jan 1 1970 initrd-2.6.6/dev/console shoreditch.root /tmp 2# ls -l initrd-2.6.8/dev/console crw--- 1 root tty 5, 1 Jan 1 1970 initrd-2.6.8/dev/console So the permissions are different, but I can't imagine that would make any difference at this stage of the bootstrap, which must surely be running with a uid of root. Of course udev may be overwriting this and screwing it up, since I think that 2.6.6 didn't have udev, while 2.6.8 does - is that right? Is there anything that I could add to the boot command line to control udev, or to help diagnose the problem? Nigel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#281758: glabels: glabels file type not correctly recognised by nautilus
Hi Andrew, > Are you using the extension .glabels on the end of your files? If so, (embarrassment) Apparently Nautilus is case-sensitive wrt filename extensions, the extension on the file in question was .gLabels which wasn't matching. Not a glabels bug. Bug#294026: horde2: PHP applications should never depend on phpapi-12345
Package: horde2 Severity: important Due to incorrect packaging on your part, your package has become partially broken in sid, as of today's dinstall run. I wish I had caught this earlier, but I don't make a habit of reviewing all PHP apps. Sorry. In your dependency line, you list 'phpapi-20020918' as a dependency, however you should NEVER do that for PHP applications. That virtual package exists specifically so that binary PHP extensions (like php4-pgsql, for instance) can depend on the precise API/ABI they were built against. If your intention was to use this as a catchall to depend on all the PHP SAPIs, please use this instead: Depends: php4 | php4-cgi (You may have minimum versions specified as well, if your application demands specific features, for example, (>= 4:4.3.0-1)) Due to the simplicity involved in fixing this RC bug, if I don't see an upload within the next 24 hours, I will NMU.
