But some packages are waiting solution for 11 months. And it is a bit worrying. Their list is big, you can help them if you feel it's slow! How can I help them? Unfortunately, the bug report was received too late. This should be fixable for the first point release, but will need to be a stable update rather than a t-p-u upload. I updated the diff. Bug#612097: Re[2]: Bug#612097: Re[2]: Bug#612097: Permission to upload q4wine to testing-proposed-updates for fixing #612027
You asked for permission to upload q4wine to stable. What do you think I mean? Ok. I can articulate otherwise. I applied this patch to q4wine sources 0.118-4 and built q4wine 0.118-5. There was no error when assembling the package. Then I tested package in lintian. It haven't found errors. Next I installed this package to my system and launched the program. It works fine. So I don't see any errors or important warnings which can prevent updating the package in stable. And what I need to fix? If you see mistakes, just write about it. I began this bug report because it was RC bug. Now Debian Squeeze have been realised and problem have been fixed in Debian Sid. Maybe the package does not need to update in Debian Squeeze at all? Correction does not apply to security issues. This is just fix the location of the library used. And the program works fine without any changes... Bug#610338: Re[2]: Bug#610338: only checked testing/unstable
Well, no problem: The copyright files of the version in testing and experimental are the very same. I checked iris/src/jdns, src/tools/crash/crash_sigsev* and third-party/qca/qca/src/botantools which also seem to be present in both versions. So this bug seems clearly to affects both versions (also #598944 seems to claim otherwise). Just for the record: version 0.15~svn3463-1 available on mentors.d.n doesn't fix it, too. Our sponsor made remark that not all source files in the program contain license disclaimer and also some another remarks. So we contacted with developers and showed them list of problematical files. Bug#678468: RFS: sgml-data/2.0.7 [RC] [QA] -- common SGML and XML data
Hi, Thank you for a reply. I am looking for a sponsor for my package sgml-data. You say QA upload below, I guess you don't mean to adopt the package, right? Yes, right. That phrase is from template on m.d.n. Thanks for taking care of this package. This upload fixes at least one RC bug. Yes, this is the main reason of my QA upload. http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/sgml-data/sgml-data_2.0.7.dsc Your upload already fixes a lot of things, but there is still room for improvement. * How about using dh_testdir instead of a custom $(checkdir)? * How about using dh_testroot instead of a custom $(checkroot)? * You could also replace some of the $(makedir) with dh_installdirs. * dh_clean removes *~, so there is no need to do this with find. * You no longer need to rmdir /etc/sgml on purge, cause there is a conffile in that directory. Ok, I can update the package this evening. * The description still contains the homepage. Hmm, is it a problem? I don't see nothing about it in the Debian Policy [1]. That lintian note was about missed homepage field which is possibly present in description. [1] http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-controlfields.html#s-f-Description All of these problems are minor, so I would like to see this (or an improved version) uploaded before the freeze. So do I. But it is too hard to find the sponsor. Not mailing lists, nor new pseudo-package didn't help me yet. If this doesn't happen, I will need someone to sponsor a NMU and a get a freeze exception which means more work for the release team. Why NMU? First freeze is soft and QA uploads and even upload with increasing of version are allowed. Isn't it? But yes, this can be hard for release team. QA upload is much better than NMU because the quality of package can be improved, not only small bug fix can be added. Also I wanted to add the package in collab-maint git repository. But I haven't received any reply from Alioth administrators... Regards, Boris -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#678468: RFS: sgml-data/2.0.7 [RC] [QA] -- common SGML and XML data
Why NMU? First freeze is soft and QA uploads and even upload with increasing of version are allowed. Isn't it? But yes, this can be hard for release team. Because once the freeze is in effect only RC bug fixes are allowed in. So the changes need to be minimal at that point. My NMU does just that. I have read another info. See [1] for example. The quotation: As with the Squeeze freeze the process will be gradual, with a more liberal acceptance policy in the earlier stages. Precise details as to what that means will be available soon. So we'll see in details when they are available. Bug#616602: Display goes black after using this program
Hi, The display goes black after using zgv to view a jpg image, and it is not possible to return to a working console. Switching virtual consoles will not revive the display, making it necessary to telnet the machine from a remote for rebooting. This problem was observed on a computer fitted with an ATI Radeon 9200 card using the open source radeon driver. The problem may be exhibited on other hardware. Hi, The upstream authors doesn't have this version available as tarball for download, I had to create the tarball myself. The main differences between the 0.1.1 stable version and this git commit is only about the construct system: I have made some suggestions and they included it in the repository after the 0.1.1 release. In this case you could just add the patch in your package. And in the next upload you will delete it. Also this patch may include only necessary changes, but not full diff after stable release. I often use such method in my packages. Regards, Boris -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#675295: FTBFS in version 0.13+ds1-2
Hi Peter, During researching the list of packages maintained by Debian QA Group [1] with bugs I found the package matanza [2]. As we can see in changelog [3] you adopted this package, and its updated version was uploaded into experimental. Unfortunately, your changes causes new FTBFS. (I've tested version 0.13+ds1-1 and it was built successfully.) Are you still interested in maintaining of this package? If yes could you update the package in the nearest future? (Wheeze freeze will be at June 30.) RC bug #675295 can be fixed by NMU, but less serious bugs #636984 and #662427 should be fixed in usual or QA upload. And it would be very nice to have them fixed to approach the libpng15 transition. Bug #662427 needs tiny change in debian/control and bug #636984 has patch. So the package won't require much time for update. I am not sure how organized the maintaining process in the Debian Games Team. Maybe someone else can prepare an update. And this will be fine too. I simply rebuild the q4wine package with the new dependency and it works. Thank you for the bug report. I'll fix it ASAP. Best regards, Boris PS: please limit the length of strings in your future messages if possible. Something about 80 characters would be fine.
Bug#679466: q4wine: Does not install in amd64 because of missed dependency wine-bin-unstable
tags 679466 - confirmed thanks Hi, There's new packages of wine-unstable version 1.5.6 but there has been some changes. In amd64 the package wine-bin-unstable has been renamed wine64-bin-unstable so q4wine won't install because of missing dependency. This also applies to the newer version of q4wine in experimental. I simply rebuild the q4wine package with the new dependency and it works. Sorry, but after more detail research I found that packages wine64-bin and wine64-bin-unstable are not independent. They just provide documentation. See: http://packages.debian.org/sid/wine64-bin-unstable http://packages.debian.org/sid/amd64/wine64-bin-unstable/filelist http://packages.debian.org/sid/wine64-bin http://packages.debian.org/sid/amd64/wine64-bin/filelist So wine-bin-unstable or wine-bin should be installed in any case... $ cat /usr/bin/wine #!/bin/sh echo This is the wine64-bin helper package, which does not provide wine itself, echo but instead exists solely to provide the following information about echo enabling multiarch on your system in order to be able to install and run echo the 32-bit wine packages. echo echo The following commands should be issued as root or via sudo in order to echo enable multiarch (the last command installs 32-bit wine): echo echo # dpkg --add-architecture i386 echo # sed -i 's/deb\ /deb\ [arch=amd64,i386]\ /g' /etc/apt/sources.list echo # apt-get update echo # apt-get install wine-bin:i386 echo echo Be very careful as spaces matter above. For kfreebsd systems, replace i386 echo and amd64 with kfreebsd-i386 and kfreebsd-amd64. Note that this package echo (wine64-bin) will be removed in the process. For more information on the echo multiarch conversion, see: echo http://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch/HOWTO; Regards, Boris

Bug#587062: exactimage 0.7.8-1
Hi Daniel, I've posted an ITA bug on that piece and I've seen that you've prepared exactimage 0.8.7-1 as a QA upload, which is really great! Would you like to send me over you package and I am going to put everything which has been done so far together, or what's your current intention? Yep, it was my fault: I prepared few QA uploads [1] before freeze and I had missed that this package was in ITA state. Unfortunately, I have removed my version of package. But I've sent small patch which may be interesting for you: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=587062#69 As we can see in my RFS message [2] there were very few changes. And all these changes you have already done in git repo. Personally I was interested in libpng15 transition. I've tested build and it was successful. It's a pity that libpng15 transition was not finished in Wheeze. But this is normal. I hope it will be finished in the next release. Bug#672268: RFS: kde-gtk-config/2.0-1 [ITP] -- KDE configuration module for GTK+ 2.x and GTK+ 3.x style selection
Hi, Thank you for a reply. 2) Handling of the transition I just tested with a clean user: the current kde-config-gtk-style creates one .gtkrc-2.0-kde while your new kde-config-gtk-style creates one .gtkrc-2.0-kde4 that is a symlink to .gtkrc-2.0 . You should probably cope with 04_no_kde4_in_configfile.diff in src:kcm-gtk and make sure any changes put there by kcm-gtk is kept gracefully. Done. As a general rule, make sure that any bug fixed in kcm-gtk (by its patches or by its code) is not re-introduced by src:kde-gtk-config. Ok. I have read all bug reports in Debian BTS [1] and in Launchpad [2]. There is only one bug report [3] in Debian BTS (which is still opened). And this bug is exactly about .gtkrc-2.0-kde symlink. So it will be fixed by my package when it is uploaded to unstable. There is the same bug report in Launchpad [4]. All other bugs from Ubuntu are not related with my new package. Other than that, it looks fine but at least 2) ought to be fixed. Great! So I think the package is ready for upload now.
