thanks Sven, this solve my problem

My apt was generating Portuguese's outputs ... :-)

maybe the Makefile of debian-cd can store the default value of this
variables and change for blank during the build process, when this process
is finished, the makefile chage this values again.

debian-cd team? can you do that?

thanks again Sven

problems building woody images

2004-02-27 Thread Sven Hoexter
Hi,
I tried to update the woody images I created for the last LinuxTag in germany.
Now I'm running into some errors during
make list TASK=tasks/Debian_woody COMPLETE=0

' while parsing end of deptree from ''
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
/mnt/data/debcd/helpers/debian-cd_cebit/tools/list2cds line 153.
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
/mnt/data/debcd/helpers/debian-cd_cebit/tools/list2cds line 149.
UNEXPECTED: Line ` Ersetzt: alsaplayer-esd
' while parsing end of deptree from '

Do you've any idea how to fix this? Looks like something isn't able to parse
the output generated by one of the apt tools.

Er, you're right --- I must have been looking at 3.0-pre3.

Doh!

Oh well, I'll give it another try shall I, or does Jim Westveer's recent
mail indicating that the problem he was having was caused by a drive not
likeing 80 minute CDs mean that we didn't have an over-size problem in
the first place.

Cheers, Phil.

Problem with 20020222 Woody images for PowerPC on iBook2

2002-02-27 Thread Michèl Alexandre Salim

Hello,

I was installing Debian from scratch on a brand-new
Apple iBook 600 MHz - the new one with the softmodem,
warning everyone!! - and ran into the following
problems:

1. If using kernel 2.4, when trying to install the
kernel and modules it fails to mount the CD-ROM. Had
to go back to kernel 2.2

2. Using kernel 2.2, after installing the base system
the installer froze. If I drop myself to the console
and kill the bootstrap process, it re-spawned on the
console itself - thus leaving me with no functional
terminal - and would not accept keyboard input.

3. Thus I had to restart and skip to the 'make system
bootable' step, but after rebooting I discovered that
the system is so bare-bones that even /etc/fstab is
not configured. Had to pass the kernel option
'root=/dev/hdaXX rw' to get the root partition mounted
r/w.

4. One thing I forgot: Installer would refuse to mount
my /boot partition, which is 15MB formatted as ext2.
It insisted that it would only mount ext2/3
partitions, which this one clearly is! The partition
type, of course, is Apple_UNIX_SVR2, is it what's
causing the problem?

The partition table is as follows:

hda1 - Apple's partition map
hda2-8 - MacOS9 drivers
hda9 - MacOS9/X
hda10 - Bootstrap (HFS)
hda11 - /boot (ext2)
hda12 - swap
hda13 - root(ext3 - created with the 2.4 kernel)

Despite all this I managed to get the system running
by manually modifying fstab, but a user installing
from scratch would be rather... horrified I would say.
Any chance this would be fixed before Woody goes gold?

Ah, and one more thing. What is the recommended way to
check an ext3 filesystem after a system lock-up?
(Using kernel 2.4.16-pmac and trying to load
dmasound_pmac). I recall on YDL it would just replay
the transaction journal but could not remember how
this was done.

Regards, and thanks for the excellent work,

Michel

Oversize woody images

2002-02-14 Thread Philip Charles

I had a panic when producing some woody CDs with ./woody-secured.
The binary images were oversized.

652M CD1.iso
650M CD2.iso
655M CD3.iso
654M CD4.iso
655M CD5.iso
651M CD6.iso
533M CD7.iso

The probem is woody-secured which adds about 9 MB to the image.

While I have not built the source images, the file trees indicate there is
a similar problem.

The fix is quite simple, reduce the size limits in build.sh and
build_all.sh by 9 MB.

Phil.

But how can I correct this myself? It's a big problem for me to get about
2,5G from Internet again. :(((

Yupp, last week I've changed my machine and forget to install
dpkg-multicd.

Expect the updated images later this day.

BTW, there is a NEWS file in that directory which explains this problem.

2001-04-17 Thread Giuseppe Rodriguez

Hi,
I downloaded from ftp.fsn.hu::cdimages/debian-unofficial/woody the last
cd-images of woody, but all the Packages files inside them appear to be empty.
Is it OK?
