Bug#578328: ITP: python-prctl -- Python interface to the prctl() syscall
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Dennis Kaarsemaker * Package name: python-prctl Version : 1.1.1 Upstream Author : Dennis Kaarsemaker * URL : http://github.com/seveas/python-prctl/ * License : GPL Programming Lang: Python, C Description : Python interface to the prctl() syscall The linux prctl function allows you to control specific characteristics of a process' behaviour. Usage of the function is fairly messy though, due to limitations in C and linux. This module provides a nice non-messy python(ic) interface. I've packaged it for debian in the debian/ branch of the github repo and Andrew Pollock has offered to sponsor the upload. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Package description review (in ITP)
Hi, A good package description is important, because sysadmin often decide to install a package (or not), base on it's description. Shouldn't we suggest/require that the descriptions in ITP bugs includes the intended description for the package? (as opposed to a mere copy of upstream description) If debian-devel readers knew for that the submitted description is the one intended to be uploaded, they wouldn't hesitate to provide feedback (spell checking, grammar, lack of context, clarity issues, etc.) Current ITP look likes this: > * Package name: test > Version : x.y.z > Upstream Author : Name > * URL : http://www.example.org/ > * License : (GPL, LGPL, BSD, MIT/X, etc.) > Programming Lang: (C, C++, C#, Perl, Python, etc.) > Description : test > > (Include the long description here.)
