Isn't KLyX esssentially dead? I would look at the Lyx homepage (www.lyx.org);
I seem to recall that Klyx is more or less abandoned, and you will get far
more mileage out of the current version of Lyx itself.

i just checked the cupsomatic-ppd package and it does include the z11. so it
appears that all you need to add is the cupsys-client and cupsys-bsd
packages; then configure with a browser at localhost:631 as noted by the
earlier poster. the gimp1.2-print package has a different driver that will
also work. either cupsomatic-ppd or gimp1.2-print should suffice, although
the quality may vary on individual machines.

the lpr and apsfilter packages are not necessary and can be safely
removed/purged from your system before adding the cupsys-client package.

upload the prelink binary...it should be faster even still :-)

I've used Potato in the past and have been enjoying Ivan's Potato KDE2.1 on
Progeny for quite some time now. I have been reading the list, and although
I've seen a few issues, I've not seen anything that should be a show stopper
for me. I've been itching to upgrade for a while now, this jsut gives me an
excuse ; ). Since the upgrade is so large, and I'm only connected via modem,
I'll have to settle for building up my apt-cache over a period of days before
I can see whats in testing.

Thanks for the advise and others for offers of help.

kde objprelink and new binutils

2001-10-19 Thread Philipp Siegert
Hi,

I tried to compile KDE 2.2.1 with the latest Debian/unstable. The kdelibs
compile without problems but the kde-config program which is located in
kdelibs/kdecore/kde-config segfaults on my two tested machines. This program
is needed for all other packages in the configure script.
I never had this problem with earlier Debian versions. Unfortunaly I can't
find any older binutils versions on the debian ftp-server and I can't verify
that the binutils are the real problem. Chris, could you send me a location
where to download older binutil packages ?

Re: KDevelop

2001-10-19 Thread Krystian Bates
My entire system was installed via "apt get" from Sid and using Potato as a
fallback. I run "apt get update" and snag updates every day. KDevelop works
just fine to do ANYTHING except for open a file for editing. I can browse my
file, class and doc trees, view documentation, change settings, ect... just
not open something to edit. It is not just project files it won't open
either, I've tried just opening random plain text files out of my home dir.

I would greatly appreciate a debug version. I'm inlining the backtrace from
the release version, but I don't know how helpful it will be. I have found
this problem in old bug reports on bugs.kde.org... but acording to that they
have all been resolved, and it doesn't give any details :|

Maybe, but why we differ between ftp and http? We can work in http mode
in the same way as in ftp mode: Following a link, going up one directory
and so on.

I'm voting for "Save Link as..." in ftp mode. I will report an wishlist

Hi,

my kdevelop doesn't work fine with automake/autoconf(2.5x). There are also
Problems to build Simple Wizard Projects (Create -> New Project -> Simple
K-App).

testview.cpp:27: undefined reference to `Test2View::QPaintDevice virtual
table'

Looks like a link-error (the libs are installed !)

also i have problems with autoconf (perhaps the prob for the "undefined
reference") !

/Makefile.am:5: EXTRA_DIST multiply defined in condition TRUE

  EXTRA_DIST (User, where = 5) =

Has anyone the same problems, or a solution for this ??

I'm using Woody (Base-System) and the QT/KDE Packages from Unstable

The Potato version is getting quite old and is no longer supported. For version
2.0.1, did you install it and the rest of KDE from the packages in Sid, and are
they up to date? Does KDevelop load up properly and load your project properly?
If so, can you open different files etc. before it crashes?

If you would like, I can send you packages with Debugging support. You could
then send me the output from KDE crash monitor.

By the way I have KDevelop working properly in Sid on two computers, both up to
date.
