Fonts

2002-07-06 Thread Daniel D Jones
Is there any way other that Control Center for selecting KDE fonts?

I have XF86 using TT fonts. KDE seems to automatically default to using
the first font as the default. In my case, this is a symbolic font.
Opening KDE gives a destop where everything is displayed as gibberish.
I'm able to open CC, and change the fonts (which isn't easy when you
can't read any of the menus.) However, even after doing so, not
everything is fixed. On my laptop, the text under desktop icons look
like a series of squared-off, underlined 'U's. The Lt. Skat card game
still uses a non-readable font. And Konsole is entirely hosed.
Regardless of which font I select, spacing between words and letters is
way off, clearing the screen leaves garbage all over it, etc.

Are these known problems? Are there any known fixes?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Wine needs libarts, kde3 needs libarts1 (you might have noticed this).
The solution would be to compile wine with libarts1:

apt-get source wine
change libarts with libarts1 in debian/control
type debuild and cross your fingers

This might have been asked before, but is there a way of making KDE3 and
wine like each other? Have KDE3 installed but wine wouldn't install
because of dependency problems.

Is there any mirror with 3.0.2 packages

2002-07-06 Thread Pablo de Vicente
Hello,

kde3.geniussystems.net seems to be not available for HTTP requests, however it
is alive for pings...

Is there a mirror from which I can download the 3.0.2 packages?. The two
mirrors I know about only have 3.0.1 packages, which I already use.

thanks,

Pablo de Vicente

Hello,
I has been adviced to use :
Argo/UML http://argouml.tigris.org,

dia
dia2code - a dia-UML to C/C++/Java code generator
dia - Diagram editor
dia-common - Diagram editor (common files)
dia-gnome - Diagram editor (GNOME version)

or kuml (the last version seems to be buggy)

Re: KMAIL 1.4.2

2002-07-06 Thread Sean McGuire

No hold on... I just had kmail show all the headers and it turns out my "From"
header was missing the email address all this time. I have no idea why this
is. I typed it in and now it seems to work fine. Wierd.

KMAIL 1.4.2

2002-07-06 Thread Sean McGuire

Hi,

I am using the 3.0.2 debs. Has anyone else gotten this? This is with an SMTP
account and I can't figure out what's causing it. Kmail in KDE 2.2 worked
fine.

Sending failed:

The message will stay in the 'outbox' folder until you either fix the problem
(e.g. a broken address) or remove the message from the 'outbox' folder.
Note: Other messages will also be blocked by this message, as long as it is in
the 'outbox' folder

KOffice 1.2-beta2 packages uploaded

2002-07-06 Thread Ben Burton

Hi all. KOffice 1.2-beta2 packages are finally available:

  deb http://people.debian.org/~bab/kde3 ./
  deb-src http://people.debian.org/~bab/kde3 ./

Be aware that there seem to be some rather serious issues with the Kontour
package (if anyone *doesn't* experience major problems like being unable to
draw lines or text boxes, please let me know).

The packages at the same location for kdesdk, kdeedu, kdetoys, kdeaddons and
kdeartwork have also been updated to 3.0.2.

Let me know if there are any problems.

Ben.
