Bug#721008: [kdepimlibs] identical descriptions for libakonadi-{kontact,kabc,...}

2013-08-27 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Source: kdepimlibs
Version: 4:4.10.5-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: gkiag...@csd.uoc.gr

libakonadi-contact4 has the short description library for using the Akonadi PIM
data server and the following extended description:

This is the client access library for using the Akonadi PIM data server.

This package is part of the KDE Development Platform PIM libraries module.

This is also the case for libakonadi-kabc4, libakonadi-kcal4, libakonadi-kde4,
libakonadi-kmime4 and libakonadi-notes4...

Bug#717013: [qtcore4-l10n] The QtCore module contains the translations of the core non-GUI functionality. in extended description

2013-07-15 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: qtcore4-l10n
Severity: minor
Version: 4:4.8.5+dfsg-2

The extended description ends with:

The QtCore module contains the translations of the core non-GUI functionality.

This is derived from libqtcore4's description, the package which previously
contained what qtcore4-l10n contains. libqtcore4's description contains:
The QtCore module contains core non-GUI functionality.

While the problematic sentence may be correct, it leaves the reader wondering
what qtcore4-l10n contains. It was presumably intended to read something like
This package contains the translations of Qt's core non-GUI functionality.

or
This package contains the translations of the QtCore module.

Bug#712389: [print-manager] configutation in extended description

2013-06-15 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: print-manager
Version: 4:4.10.4-1
Severity: minor

The short description reads:

printer configutation and monitoring tools

configutation should read configu*r*ation.

By the way, the extended description starts with:

This package provides a KDE configuration module and a Plasma widget for
installing and configuring printers, and monitor printers, print jobs and
print queues.

The verb tenses should be consistent (s/monitor/monitoring/).

Bug#705786: [konqueror] Please add Web shortcut for Debian Package Tracking System

2013-04-19 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: konqueror
Version: 4:4.8.4-2
Severity: wishlist

For a countless number of install, I've had the habit of adding a web
shortcut for the PTS. But this time I noticed there's no obvious reason
not to have such a shortcut by default, as the default list contains
development shortcuts as well as Debian shortcuts.

I create a Debian Package Tracking System shortcut using the shortcut
dpts to go to http://packages.qa.debian.org/\{@}

Bug#570478: Also experienced

2012-12-22 Thread Filipus Klutiero
I was hit by something similar after upgrading kdm from 4.8.4-4 to
4.8.4-5, which changes the default kdm configuration. I decided to take
the maintainer's version of the script and then kdm wouldn't start
anymore. However, the Login Manager configuration tool still let me
configure kdm.

/etc/init.d/kdm is responsible for substituting
@@@ToBeReplacedByDesktopBase@@@ when kdm is started, at line 86:

sed -i s|@@@ToBeReplacedByDesktopBase@@@|$DEFAULT_KDM_THEME| ${KDMCFG}
This failed because my kdmrc was in /var/run/kdm/kdmrc/kdmrc rather than
in /var/run/kdm/kdmrc. I was unable to figure out why (even after
reading upgrade scripts) but /var/run/kdm/ was a directory which
contained a kdmrc/ subdirectory.

Deleting /var/run/kdm/kdmrc/ works around.

Ah, thank you, kdenetwork-filesharing does expand the properties dialog
of a directory, whether from Dolphin or Konqueror.
kdenetwork-filesharing provides what its description claims it does in

I couldn't find any explanation for the removal.

And this is working.
As the files list suggests and as the commit message seems to confirm
(since it doesn't specify it refers to the *old* filesharing code for
NFS), there is nothing left to configure NFS.

FWIW, I apparently also couldn't get kdenetwork-filesharing to work -
that is actually get the machine to share a directory that can be seen
by an SMB client - but that shall be matter for a later report.

We had a discussion in kde-core-devel about the nfs support removal.

Could you explain me later the details of this issue?

kdenetwork-filesharing lost its KCM module since our last release. As
your message clarifies, this is not a problem by itself, but an
unfortunate - hopefully temporary - decision to improve reliability
which was judged to improve on the previous situation. However, the
description of kdenetwork-filesharing in Debian testing, which uses KDE
4.8, is the same as the description in Debian 6, which uses KDE 4.4. The
description is now entirely misleading. As our package contains no
proper documentation, it leaves the wrong description as the only
documentation, which constitutes a serious bug, as people who didn't
use a recent kdenetwork-filesharing can't figure out how to use it,
limiting the package's possible users to a small minority.

A fix to our package description will help to mitigate the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply

I experience this in 4.8. The behavior of displaying a huge screen is
quite confusing. It looks like you had the host right and krdc managed
to connect, but some incompatibility is making krdc unusable. In fact,
you just need to give the right parameters.

I have to confirm this. I did not experience the problem of a defined
screensaver not running (although I'm quite sure I did experience such
problems many times with KDE several years ago, but not necessarily with
XScreenSaver), but the list of screensavers also depends on installation
order here, running KDE 4.8.4 (testing). XScreenSaver hacks currently
show, with xscreensaver-data, xscreensaver-data-extra and
xscreensaver-screensaver-bsod installed. However, if I'd remove these
and then reinstall, XScreenSaver hacks would no longer show, until I'd
install xscreensaver.

There are a few installations scripts used by xscreensaver and
xscreensaver-gl, but I failed to identify what difference removing the
previously mentioned packages and reinstalling them makes.

Bug#681619: [kscreensaver] Unclear/confusing descriptions

2012-07-14 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: kscreensaver
Version: 4:4.8.4-2
Severity: normal

The descriptions of kscreensaver, kscreensaver-xsavers and
libkscreensaver need to be revisited to clarify and avoid confusion. We
currently have:

libkscreensaver: library of the KDE Screensaver system

This package contains libraries needed for kscreensaver.

This package is part of the KDE base workspace module.

kscreensaver: Additional screensavers for KScreenSaver

This package contains screensavers for KScreenSaver.

KScreenSaver can use XScreenSaver collection of screensavers with the
'kscreensaver-xsavers' package.

This package is part of the KDE artwork module.

kscreensaver-xsavers: xscreensaver support for KScreenSaver

This package allows KScreenSaver to use the XScreenSaver collection of
screensavers.

This package is part of the KDE artwork module.

The main problem is that the meaning of KScreenSaver is unclear. One
could think that KScreenSaver is provided by the kscreensaver package
and that kscreensaver's description would describe KScreenSaver. But
this is not the case. The kscreensaver package's short description is
Additional screensavers for KScreenSaver. Therefore, the kscreensaver
package clearly doesn't contain KScreenSaver. Unfortunately, I can't say
what KScreenSaver is. Is KScreenSaver provided by some package? All I
can say is that at one point there was a kscreensaver command
(/usr/bin/kscreensaver), which, I believe, would launch KControl's
screensaver module. This is no longer the case.

One option, which I think is a good choice, would be to remove any
reference to KScreenSaver, at least for kscreensaver{,-xsavers}.
Whatever KScreenSaver is, it doesn't seem to have any screensaver by
default, so the description Additional screensavers for KScreenSaver
seems broken. Screensavers for KDE would probably be better.

While we're at it, I wonder if kscreensaver is a good package name.

Bug#678416: [libkwinglutils1] accellaration in descriptions

2012-06-21 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: libkwinglutils1
Version: 4:4.8.4-2
Severity: minor

The extended description starts with:

This package contains a library used by accellaration for the KDE window
manager.

accellaration should read acceleration.

By the way, used by acceleration is strange. I think for
acceleration (or to accelerate) would be better.

Bug#666487: Confirmed, workaround

retitle 666487 No calendars found, event cannot be added. when trying
to create events, to-dos or journals, previous data not showing anymore

tags 666487 + confirmed
thanks

Thanks for the report. This was reported on
https://lists.debian.org/debian-kde/2012/03/msg00080.html
A single person said they don't have this problem - anymore:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-kde/2012/03/msg00096.html

I'm assuming that most are affected and upgrading to serious.

This was reported upstream as https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279665

I was able to workaround this by creating a new calendar.
In the Calendars pane bottom left, click the plus sign. Select calendar
in a local directory.

Set the location to ~/.kde/share/apps/korganizer

Then, to recover your data, use File - Import - Import calendar...
Choose your old lost calendar's data file (in
.kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics ).

Choose Merge into existing calendar

Note that I was recovering data from a previous install after
reinstalling Debian. If trying to fix this without reinstalling, you may
need to move std.ics out of the way or something.

Sure. It's so big and obvious, I had hard time finding it too :) . I attached
screenshot to my message.

Oh! Thanks, I would never have figured that out without the screenshot.
The panels of KOrganizer are resizable. It looks like I must have
decided I used a single calendar a long time ago and reduced that one to
the minimum, so I was not seeing the Calendars panel at all. The only
way to get it back was to take the bar at complete bottom of the window,
left, and to raise it. Then I was able to add new calendars.

At least one user is reportedly affected by this problem even with
KOrganizer 4.8.1. Is anyone not affected by this problem? Here, 2
existing users on 2 are affected. I also created a new user just to be
sure, and that new user also couldn't create events.

was empty, whereas I should have one. I could add it using little + icon.

KOrganizer half-broken after upgrade of rest of KDE to 4.7 - does not show existing data (was Re: KOrganizer is unusable after upgrade to 4.7.4)

Hi

I am using Debian testing. After today's upgrade, I finally got to run KDE
4.7.4.

Unfortunately, all my Korganizer info disappeared. I mean - Calendar and to-do
list in Kontact does not display anything. All information are safe in
~/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics file.

When I try to add new to-do, I get error message:
No calendars found, event cannot be added.

How can I get my calendar back? I don't think I ever changed Korganizer
setting in any way. They are pretty much default.

I tried on new user (without any files or directories in ~), and I got the same
error message when trying to add new to-do entry.

It seems similar to KDE bug #279550
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279550). Unfortunately, there was no
responses to that message.

It definitely is. I just replied to that, but the precise problem we're
having was reported upstream as #279665:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279665
However, I do not think this is actually an upstream bug. I believe this
is simply an incompatibility between KOrganizer 4.4 and (some part of)
KDE 4.7, although I can't say what it is exactly for now.

Any help would be appreciated. If you need any further information, please
tell me what (and how do I get them for you).

Bug#651200: [libkipi] (and not only) in extended descriptions

Extended descriptions start with:

Libkipi is a KDE library that provides a common interface for
operations on images such as manipulation, organization, importing
from and exporting to online services (and not only), batch editing, etc.

The parenthesis has something wrong. I am not sure what it means. Does
it say more than the etcetera? I suggest either removing it or rewording
to (and more) or (and not only these).

Bug#563352: Upstream won't change

2011-11-09 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Le 3 novembre 2011 08:29:42, Hendrik Sattler a écrit :
 Hi,

I also don't think that Konsole should be patched. Instead clarify in
the policy what a command actually is. Saying everything that works
with xterm is too broad (and too broken).

Let's look at the one from the KDE bug report:
  konsole -e cd src make

This is not a command, it's a line to be interpreted e.g. by a shell.
That's not the same but often confused: cd is a command and make is
another but the above is not.

The term command is ambiguous and does not necessarily mean a command name.
The above is a shell command in the POSIX sense.
The suggestion in the KDE bug report is
 indeed the solution:
  konsole -e /bin/sh -c cd src make

as that fits any definition of command (/bin/sh) and arguments (the
other arguments) and fully complies to policy.
How is konsole supposed to see that this is to be interpreted by
/bin/sh and not by python or perl? Just because xterm does something
funky and blindly assumes a standard shell? That contradicts policy
 11.8.3 _directly_:
[...]runs the specified command, interpreting the entirety of the rest
of the command line as a command to pass straight to exec[...]

xterm obviously does NOT do this!

Hum, good point. I reported this as #648271, thanks.
And policy is not everything. Having a consistent behaviour of konsole
on Debian and non-Debian system is far more important.

I agree it would be ideal to have compatibility with vanilla upstream.
One way I see to achieve that would be to introduce new options in konsole. For
example, add an --execute-compat option that behaves like -e. Then, perhaps a
new command, say konsole-xterm-compat, could be added as a wrapper around
konsole which would map calls to konsole-xterm-compat -e to konsole
--execute-compat.

Bug#604773: [kspread] Time cells shown as 00:00 when ODS file is loaded, corrupted when saving as ODS

2010-11-24 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: kspread
Version: 1:2.2.1-3
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream fixed-upstream

2 days ago a new OOo migrated to squeeze and I decided to remove it,
forgetting that I used Calc daily for my timesheet - ahem. So when I
opened my timesheet yesterday, it didn't open with Calc, but with
KSpread, which I also had installed. I thought I wouldn't bother to
reinstall OOo just for that, so I added November 21's time, saved and
closed. It's about time we started seeing the wonders of ODF, right?

Today, I opened again the spreadsheet and noticed the times were really
wrong. I asked on #koffice and was informed by Marijn Kruisselbrink this
was a bug he had fixed for KOffice 2.3 (so no fix released yet). The
upstream report is https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=253042
The precise details of this issue are not clear, but basically, when
certain time values are saved in an ODS file, the time saved has some
random data. When reopening the same file which looked OK, KSpread shows
the time as 00:00:00. If you click the cell, you see the value in the
top bar is the actual value - apparently. This does not work so well
with other ODS programs, like Calc (and probably the fixed KSpread),
which rather shows some more or less random values. What happened in my
spreadsheet from Calc was that all durations of at least 1 hour were not
corrupted, all others were corrupted. So the 25 minutes entries
(00:25:00) were corrupted, but not 01:10:00.

To reproduce, just create a new sheet, put 5:00 in A1, save, and watch
the displayed value change to 0:00 when reopening the document.

According to Marijn, there is no 2.2.3 planned. I don't think the fix
was backported to branch 2.2, but Marijn doesn't think this would be
hard. The fix is very short:

This doesn't parse for me. priority and scheduling should presumably
be interchanged, although that still gives me the vaguest idea of what
this package could do.

Bug#590204: [krita] KDEInit could not launch '/usr/bin/krita'. when opening an image from Konqueror/Dolphin

2010-07-24 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: krita
Version: 1:2.2.1-2
Severity: minor

When opening an image such as a jpg or a ppm with Krita from Dolphin or
Konqueror, Krita launches fine, but the file manager doesn't get that
and reports an error. I had 2 different error messages, one referring to
KLauncher. The one I'm currently getting is Impossible pour KDEInit de
lancer « /usr/bin/krita »., that is in English KDEInit could not
launch '/usr/bin/krita'.

The error dialog appears after some time, probably 30 seconds. It seems
KDE doesn't get any launch confirmation and assumes the application
failed to start after that time. This happens on KDE 4.4.4. KWord
doesn't have this problem.

Bug#585751: Recovery

2010-06-13 Thread Filipus Klutiero
I have update my repository to sid and I have executed

 apt-get update
 apt-get install apt-get install libkdecore5

I got the background but not the menu bar (the menu bar generally is ah
the bottom of the page even if I place it at the top of the page)

 Sincerely
 Marco Righi

Yes, upgrading alone won't fix profiles that used the broken KDE. The profiles
are largely broken and you may want to create a new one or log in as another
user temporarily.

I'm using my own profile close to how it used to be since a few minutes. I had
to add a new panel and to add widgets to that panel: Application Launcher,
Battery Monitor, Digital Clock, System Tray and Task manager.
Use the Tool box (palette icon in the corner) to add a new panel.

 Hi,

 you reported http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=555747 some
 time
ago. Can you please verify whether this is just due to missing permissions,
i.e. running kcmshell4 kcm_knetworkconfmodule as root fixes this?

Package: konsole

As reported in upstream #170867, konsole's interpretation of the -e
argument is different from xterm's. This is a problem in Debian as an
xterm-compatible behavior is mandated by policy 11.8.3 Packages
providing a terminal emulator:
Support the command-line option -e command, which creates a new terminal
window[77 http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/footnotes.html#f77]

the command line as a command to pass straight to exec, in the manner
that xterm does.

Bug#506603: [konq-plugins] Please don't recommend akregator

Please don't recommend akregator. As far as I know, konq-plugins provides an
Akregator integration plugin, which explains a suggestion of akregator, but I

 Ana, Raúl et al,

While the RC bug (#502459) has been fixed in sid via the upload of kdelibs
4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-1, this still leaves open the resolution of this RC bug for
 lenny. (4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6)

 Options for resolution in lenny:

 1. Upload a new kdelibs 3.5.9, say -7, with 63_fixed-layout-table.diff
 targeted at testing-proposed-updates, or

 2. Convince debian-release that lenny should be released with kdelibs
 3.5.10 - currently in experimental.
It's in unstable.

Bug#500953: [kgpg] Fails to find keys on some servers

2008-10-02 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: kgpg
Version: 4:3.5.9-2
Severity: normal

On some servers, KGpg seems to find 0 keys. For example, I can find several
keys for search string Douville on hkp://wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net, but
searching on hkp://wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net (Default) (see #427404) finds no key
after a long search time. Searching for John on hkp://wwwkeys.pgp.net also
yields no results, after a long time.

Note that I'm not familiar with GnuPG. I seem to be unable to search using the

Bug#407598: One more opinion.

2008-01-05 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Le 4 janvier 2008, Raúl Sánchez Siles a écrit :
   Hello Filipus:

IMHO, I think you are mixing different concepts. One thing is system wide
volume level which are stored on a system wide basis, previosluy with
alsa-utils init script ( no longer present) and another, different, thing is
 user level volumes.

Once you power your system up you start it as system wide and hence the
 alsa
init script do its work. Remember you are not forced to log in when you power
on your computer. This would be the case for example a media center.

After this, you are free to log in and there is where kmix is doing it's
 job.

The problem as you say is when you shutdown. Well, it is certain that alsa
will store the settings for the last user that changed them, but otherwise,
alsa would have to take into account what user has the right to do these
operations and remember it, this is not very handy.

I don't understand this sentence. Since it's certain that alsa will store the
settings for the last user that changed them, how can you write about a
different situation?

Bug#284699: Not willing to help

2006-11-11 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Would you be willing to help do this, find replacement icons, etc.? The
rest of the team is pretty much swamped right now, so help would be
much appreciated, especially with the Etch freeze coming. I have
kde-svn access, so I can ensure that good fixes make 3.5.5.

 Thanks,
 Christopher Martin

After asking upstream about their licensing policy for non-code in
http://lists.kde.org/?t=11609800522r=1w=2n=8 I doubt upstream would
consider Debian changes good fixes. Sorry but I'm not willing to do a full
inspection just for Debian not to try changing upstream's policy. I only did
a quick check.

Bug#392468: korganizer: description needs improvement

2006-10-11 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: korganizer
Version: 4:3.5.4-1+b1
Severity: minor

This report covers several different issues in the package description.
Feel free to close it when you feel that most issues are addressed.

The description has an advertisement look when it reads Best
of all. vCalendar support is mentioned twice. , It should read ,
it. Starfish Internet Sidekick is an old product not even in
Wikipedia's list of PIMs. all for the Microsoft Windows platform, of
course. is superfluous. Current users of the popular program ical should
definitely take a look at KOrganizer and
compare features. is really out of the scope of a package description.

Note that it is strange that kpilot is not suggested by the package if
one reads the current description.

I'd suggest the following revision:

This package contains KOrganizer, a calendar and scheduling program.

KOrganizer aims to be a complete program for organizing appointments, contacts,
projects, etc.
KOrganizer natively supports information interchange with other calendar
applications through the industry standard vCalendar personal data interchange
file format. This eases moving from most other modern PIMs to KOrganizer.

KOrganizer offers full synchronization with Palm Pilot, if kpilot is installed.

This package is part of KDE, and a component of the KDE PIM module.
See the 'kde' and 'kdepim' packages for more information

Bug#369899: kcontrol: should suggest ntpdate

2006-06-01 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: kcontrol
Version: 4:3.5.3-1
Severity: wishlist

I was eagerly awaiting KDE 3.4 in Etch until I tried it and couldn't
find a way to synchronize the clock by NTP. Today someone learned me
that kcmshell clock could actually do that. The trick is that,
apparently, some *ntp* packages have to be installed. I tried ntpdate
first, and that worked. I don't know NTP enough to say if other packages
can provide the same functionality.

Suggesting ntpdate won't be much helpful for other people, who would
better see the option in kcmshell clock anyway, and being told to
install ntpdate when they attempt to use it, but I guess this report
will remind me to open a bug upstream about that later.

Bug#368883: qt4-x11: FTBFS on alpha

2006-05-25 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: qt4-x11
Version: 4.1.2-2
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

gcc ICEd when attempting to build qt4-x11 on alpha on 2006-05-14. I
don't know what's the issue and what could fix. However, 4.1.2-1 built
and the changes to -2 seem minimal, so it should be easy to check
whether there was a gcc regression or the qt4-x11 changes triggered the FTBFS
and need
a workaround.

qt4-x11 needs an update for X11R7 to reach testing, and I heard that
transition was planned for soon (possibly under 1 week). So, until this
bug is fixed, either it will a blocker, or 4.1.2-1 will be pushed on
alpha (which looks better, *if* doing that is possible).

Bug#368883: qt4-x11: FTBFS on alpha

2006-05-25 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Brian Nelson a écrit :

Isn't an ICE always a compiler bug?

Yes, I was just asking if it was a new bug or a pre-existing one.

In any case, nothing in the Qt code
changed between -1 and -2, so it's certainly a GCC regression.

Thanks for the information...I guess that's bad news. It seems there are
almost 2 monthes of changes in the gcc 4.0 branch between 4.0.3-1 and
4.0.3-3, so it's quite possible that it's indeed a GCC regression. When
looking at the gcc-4.0 bugs reported in Debian's BTS for 4.0.3-1, I
can't see much that would explain this.
I'm completely clueless about building, but somebody should start by
figuring which GCC regression is blocking this. Given the fact that
branch 4.0 looks very inactive, maybe the easiest thing would be to
identify the changeset which introduced this regression.

Bug#364938: kamera's kcmshell's Test sometimes does not work

2006-04-26 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: kamera
Version: 4:3.5.2-1
Severity: normal

If a camera is not correctly plugged in, not turned on, or if the user
lacks permission to it (e.g. typically lacks membership of the camera
group), the camera will not show in kamera's kcmshell's list, and will
have to be added manually. Then, trying to use this camera won't work.
Particularly, clicking Test will do nothing, while it should at least
hint about missing membership of the camera group.

I assume this is an upstream bug, but am filing this here as upstream
kamera's BTS is not trivial to find. I filed this against kio-kamera as
#126313, although this is actually about the kcmshell, since there was
apparently
no better place.

Please retry kdesdk

2006-04-22 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Hi,
please retry kdesdk on powerpc. The unsatisfied dependency on
libsvn0-dev that made 4:3.5.2-1 fail on the last attempt should be fixed
now that subversion builds on ppc.

Bug#362968: kdeadmin-kfile-plugins: kfile_deb not used by default

2006-04-16 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: kdeadmin-kfile-plugins
Version: 4:3.5.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

kfile_deb is not used by default since the kfile_deb.desktop uses
x-debian-package while kfile reports .deb-s as x-deb. This makes the
part of this package that should be the most useful on Debian broken by
default, so I'm marking important. I have opened #125692 to request a
fix from upstream.

Bug#362871: ark: The utility is not in your PATH. when trying to open .deb

2006-04-15 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: ark
Version: 4:3.5.2-1
Severity: normal

Since 3.5.2 (downgrading to 3.5.1-2 fixes), ark fails to open .deb when
launched with $ ark foo.deb. However, it usually succeeds to open them
when launched with $ ark; and opening the deb archive. Sometimes,
though, the error appears even in this case (it was about 1 time in 5,
just to give an idea). When it fails, the error message
The utility is not in your PATH.
Please install it or contact your system administrator.
appears. After The utility, the name of a utility should show, but
there is none, so presumably ark is looking for something which doesn't
exist.
This looks like an upstream bug, but I'd like you to verify this before
forwarding. To give a clue about where the problem could be, this looks
like a regression that could have been introduced with the zip/unzip
fixes introduced in 3.5.2.

Bug#362677: ark: shouldn't recommend arj

2006-04-14 Thread Filipus Klutiero
Package: ark
Version: 4:3.5.2-1
Severity: minor

Upstream #104404 requests arj support in ark. Yet, ark recommends
arj...I never used arj, but a quick look showed that ark failed to open
arj archives, and apparently doesn't let create some.
If I missed some arj support, I think it would be good to downgrade the
dependency level to a Suggests anyway.
