Amarok MP3
Hi list, I am running sid, with dist-upgrade as of yesterday, with the new 4.3.2 kde packages, looking good. I am having one problem though, which someone might be able to help me with. When I startup amarok, I get a little dialogue box which reports: "arts-engine claims it cannot play mp3 files". I have searched on google for this problem, but only see people reporting this on Fedora and Suse with respect to not distributing mp3 decoders due to licensing. Has debian gone a similar way? Or is there something else I need to install, or is there some file in ~/.kde I need to remove to get the engine to work. Appreciate any help, Thanks, Greg.

Thank you so much. It is great to see 'you guys' give us feedback about what is happening, Keep up the great work.
Re: Kmail - no reply, compoes
OK, so I screwed up the subject and left out some details. I am running unstable, updated as of this morning. What I mena by spinning is it just sits there looking dumb! I let it sit for about 10mins, and now it seems to be fine. (I can't win) Thanks, Greg. Kmail - no reply, compoes
As of just now, kmail is not working too well. It was working fine yesterday, but today it is broke, big time. I can read all my email fine, but if I reply or try and compose a new email it just sits there spinning. does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is, where to start looking? Re: k3b splash screen wont go away before I click on it
Yes, kind of. My k3b will do all sorts of weird things. Usually the splash screen goes away eventually, but takes quit a while, at a guess up to about 1 minute. Then I get some weird errors. The problem is, I can not reproduce it successfully, it is random. When it works it works great. One thing I found yesterday, was that having a mounted cd really upset it on startup. Issues with kde 3.2
Just letting you know the things I have had problems with, after upgrading to kde 3.2 from people.debiand.org/~[ccheney|bab]... Am using iX86, unstable (sid). Kopete has an undifined symbol with kopete_irc.so. Moving this file allows kopete to start, but no IRC is available. klaptopdaemon is still an old version. Styles, sometimes the wrong style is selected in the stype config window, but another style is being used. (more investigation required) And what is with the fonts.? Thanks to Chris and Ben and HereOn and anybody and everybody else who has been involved. Greg
Re: Aegypten for sid's KMail?
I install some stuff and compile the rest. I was going to build debs, I just haven't had a chance. I compile pinentry, libksba, gpgme, and newpg. The rest is in debs. Beware I had a problem with the latest libgcrypt so I am running 1.1.12-1. Start up script for kmail. killall gpg-agent eval `gpg-agent --daemon` kmail $@ Greg On Thu, 22 May 2003 06:05, Hendrik Sattler wrote: > Hi, > > are those packages somewhere available? > > If not I'll compile it myself. Re: agypten gpg-agent segfaults
FYI something between libgcrypt 1.1.12-1 and 1.1.12-2 broke. so if you run into that problem that is the answer. agypten gpg-agent segfaults
Hi, hopefully someone on this list may have come across this problem and has fixed it :-) Running unstable have cryptplug, libgcrypt and libgpgme6 installed complie gpgme, libksba, newpg and pinentry myself up until a couple of days ago all was working well now I get gpg-agent crashing, with a segmentation fault I don't seem to be able to produce a core file but running it through gdb with --server option passed produces: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. [Switching to Thread 16384 (LWP 24441)] 0x40186a7b in __errno_location () from /lib/libpthread.so.0 If anyone has any ideas or pointers that would be great, thanks, Greg. -- Greg Cockburn, LCA Performance Magic WGTN, NZ Cell: +64 25 275 6378 Ph: +64 4 971 1980 ICQ: 19058919
Re: KMail 1.5 crypto-plugin breaks gpg
change the line pinentry-program /usr/bin/pinentry-qt in .gnupg/gpg-agent.conf to read pinentry-program /usr/bin/pinentry-gtk I think you will need to also apt-get install pinentry-gtk (I can't remember). search the archives of this list, it has been brought up before. broken packages for 3.1
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, have just grabbed the packages from Karolina for kde3.1 from here: http://wh9.tu-dresden.de/kde3/karolina/ linked off here: http://mypage.bluewin.ch/kde3-debian/ I have a couple of probs with the packages: Menus are named "No text!" in kmail and konqueror has double up menu items and double icons. (see links) http://www.performancemagic.com/~greg/kde/kmail_menu_probs.png http://www.performancemagic.com/~greg/kde/konq_menu_probs.png Am running unstable deb (updated late last week). Am not sure who is the package maintainer, or how to report bugs in 3rd party packages. Can someone please help on contacting the correct people.
