Well, I had the same problem and the cause: All users were not aloud to read/write /dev/pts or something, that was the error that caused the konsole AND xterm not to open at my installation I think, the error is documented in some log file, I think .xsession-errors, but I am not sure. kmail crashes just anytime on startup with version 2.2
i am using Sid with the latest available packages. Now everytime i try to start up kmail, it crashes during the startup. Does anybody know a solution or what could be a possible reason? I think there is a way. But you have to go with an APT ( and dpkg ?) from unstablee or testing. After that it should be possible to use the pinning feature from APT and you can install gimp/unstable. Libqt2 requirement does not get fullfilled: unstable
I wanted to update to the final version of kde, but it got hold back because most of the packages have one dependency, that is not fullfilled. libqt2 can not be resolved - package does not seem to be available. I am using unstable and use the austrian mirror and the official server.
