1024x768 resolution assistance
Hi there, I recently had Debian 3.1 unstable version on my system, but my X windows kept on going bad. I did some diagnostics and found out that my video card was one of those that it didn't really like that much. What I am wondering is for some suggestions for a video card that does work quite well with Debian 3.1 unstable with high resolutions. With the current one I have, it currently goes only 800x600 on my resolution no matter what I try and do. I had to revert to Mandrake 10.1 Community Edition for the time being till I can find a good enough video card that will work. My current video card is a GeForce 2 FX 5200 with 128mb onboard video RAM. Thanks...BTW, the only CD I have for my Debian system is my Network Install CD (which worked great). Just wondering...
Hi there, I am currently running Debian 3.1 and have no major problems except one: Sometimes I am in the middle of an application, whether it be a game, OpenOffice doing some work, or even chatting using xChat 2.4.3 my system logs me off and I go back to the logon screen. Like I said, it doesn't matter what I'm running. This happens at periodic times of the day and applications are varied on what I'm running. Any idea why this could be happening? Re: AOL for Debian
Douglas Stanley Jr. wrote: On Wednesday 03 August 2005 11:50 am, Olaf wrote: You can't get the AOL Instant Messenger for Debian. Actually, you can. There IS an offical AOL IM client for linux: http://www.aim.com/get_aim/linux/latest_linux.adp?aolp= There are even Debian-specific installation instructions. I did that and that is how I got into the situation I was in. I tried to 1) Click the deb for Debian 3 or higher 2) Garbage came up on the screen 3) Did Save Page As... and saved it 4) Did (as root) dpkg -i 5) Got errors stating it was not a binary package so it wouldn't work. Then I did what it also suggested if I had problems by right clicking it and came up with a file linker.js NOT the .deb file as I thought I would get. AOL for Debian
Hi there, I hope I am asking in the right e-mail group. I know of the program GAIM but I am wanting to download the official AOL Instant Messenger for Debian. When I try and do this, I get a bunch of garbage on the screen, so I figure I do a "Save Page As..." and I type in the filename. Well, I then do a "dpkg -i " and it says since it was saved as ASCII I can't do anything with it, because it doesn't think it is a binary. I then followed the instructions on AOL's website saying to right click it and save it that way, well when I do that it comes up with the file jasper.jsp or something like that. How can I get this then? Thanks.. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
DVD Authoring
Hi there, I'm currently using Debian 3.1 and just was wondering if ANYONE was sucessful in making video DVDs with it. I use K3B for backup of my data onto DVD but not for making video DVDs. I have a bunch of home movies I want to put into a menu selection and send to my parents in Ohio. I tried the Video DVD selection on k3b but it gives me an error stating about size, it only puts 700 or so mb availible while the DVD's are 4.7gb. QDVD Author
Hi there, I am wondering if ANYONE has had any luck with making a DVD from the program QDVDAuthor? I am trying to make one of a bunch of video clips that I want to put into a DVD for my parents in Ohio. I am currently running Debian 3.1 0a release with gnome 2.8.3. I know K3B does a GREAT job of making Data DVD's but I don't want that, I want them to select it from a menu screen on what ones they want to view. Canon S300 USB Printer
Hi there, I am sorry, but I am new to the subscription, so pardon if this has already been asked already. I am currently running the new Debian 3.1 with KDE 3.3 and I have a Canon S300 USB Printer. My Control Panel recognizes the printer in the USB Port that I have it plugged in, even with the right name. However, when I try to print something I don't get anything. I don't get a printout or even an error on my screen. I thought I didn't have the driver installed (or even maybe I don't, if I don't SOMEONE HELP with that too) I get this error message. Actually here is a webpage that has a screen shot of the error message I get: http://www.geocities.com/doctor_vell/printer-help.png If I need a printer driver, where do I find one? WARNING: The picture was FULL screen (no idea the resolution of the graphic, but my screen is 1024x768). Thanks... -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
