RFS: pgfouine (updated package) (third try)

2011-01-20 Thread Luis Uribe
Dear mentors,

I'm looking for a sponsor for the new version of pgfouine

It builds these binary packages:
pgfouine - PostgreSQL log analyzer

The package appears to be lintian clean, and i'm using it in a few servers
since a few months.

The upload would fix these bugs: 580880

Matthew Palmer [1]review for the first time.
[1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/2010/10/msg00041.html

Also the lintian errors are fixed too (I was using an orig.tar.gz that had not
been repackaged without the CVS dirs):
[2] http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/2010/12/msg00296.html

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/pgfouine
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/pgfouine/pgfouine_1.2-2.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Thanks,

Erm, http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/2010/10/msg00074.html

I'll quote:

The package is really, *really* not Lintian clean, and claiming otherwise in
the RFS was bad form. All those CVS dirs in the resulting package
definitely need gutting, and you'll want to look into why geshi is still
getting installed in the package, given that it appears to be correctly
depended on.

Apart from that, though, it builds, installs, and runs pgfouine --help, so
you're over most of the big humps.

I'd take his advice :/

I checked it again and:

* Repackage upstream source to remove CVS dirs and contact upstream about it.
* Remove geshi from the installed package in debian/rules and re-check that
is using the one already packaged in Debian

Also i send the DM [1]application email (i'm waiting for my advocation email)
and add the DM-Upload-Allowed field, hope it's ok for you.

The DM process should be straightforward for you as it is. I'd recommend
starting that process now, and I'll DMUA pgfouine if it looks good.

I'd be interested in sponsoring this, or you might also be interested
in the pkg-postgres team.

Please write your changelog entries in the same style as the rest of
the changelog, i.e. second-level entries should have a '+' in front.

Just a cosmetic thing, but ${misc:Depends} might look better at the
start of the line in debian/control.

I would use DEP-3 format for the comments you added to the patches:
http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep3/

This new upstream release contains some changes to the fonts in
'artichow', which might mean that debian/copyright needs updating.
