No. This is not the proper fix ;-)

But anyway, it is now fixed with 1.1.3-3 which entered sid today..

This is actually the prelink program segfaulting (as the message says).
So no bug in OpenOffice.org.

Moreover, you still didn't answer my other question (see above). It
looks to me that *something* on your system is b0rked but not related to

There is a template in CVS. As I wrote in the announcement a long time
ago which I sent to you too. see Debian CVS.

> packages separately packaged. Also, for many languages no myspell

They are not. They (mostly) are packages together with the ispell stuff (where
the .zip's on the OOo server are generated from). And as Chris wrote in
an other message it is better if people maintaining myspell-foo actually
speak foo... There are some where myspell-* is packages from the zip but
those are exeptions, either because the ispell one is not packaged or
for some other reason (packaged separately from the start).

> package exists, although the dictionary files are available from the
> openoffice.org site. Why isn't there a package that downloads all

I do not see the sense in taking those when you can create them from the
"source" (i.e. the ispell dictionaries). Most myspell-* packages in Debian are
created from the respective ispell dictionaries. The exception proves
the rule.

There even is a wishlist bug for creating myspell-nl there. See
http://bugs.debian.org/237974. It would be better to do it this way.

And additionally: I don't trust anyone putting dictionaries there caring
for licensing, as I've seen in some hyphenation stuff..-

> dictionaries and creates packages for them? It would be more work than
> a single myspell package for one language, but not much more for someone

It would be relatively easy to yes, but every package would have the same
version number -> suboptimal. You need to update all myspell packages in one
row when only one changes -> suboptimal. When the ispell dictionary is
enhanced the myspell dictionary isn't. Etc...

It is on purpose. Since the package is for a dictionary ;-)
It should be easy to add a -hyphenation püackage though but there are hughe
chances it will be rejected. See
http://lists.debian.org/debian-openoffice/2003/10/msg00388.html. The solution
here is to include all hyph stuff into one package. But see below...

Yes, but you can send a patch... I once talked with Ivo and he simply doesn't
have much time...

It isn't possible. The hyphenation stuff has a completely another format like
the spellcheck stuff. They are based on the TeX hyphenation patterns
(and many on ftp.stardiv.de simply violate copyrights/copyright law...)

Hmm.. It does work when you install it from scratch, doesn't it? I.e. backup
your .openoffice and .sversionrc, kill them and start setup...

It may help to get the .openoffice directory tar.gz'ed or so to look...

The RMs now, the people know because of the version, the bug is still open,

That would suck openoffice.org-l10n-pl out of Debian main. You don't

tag 284487 + pending

Hi,

there is an option in OpenOffice.org options:

[ ] Use OpenOffice.org dialogs

Check that and the "normal" File Pickers will be used - no need to delete them
(well, I discovered that option yesterday evening also, so... )

The next package revision will have the native fpickers disabled per default
and people have to uncheck this option. -> bug pending

That's because openoffice.org-bin et. al 1.1.3-3 simply isn't (and won't be)
available for powerpc.

Hi,

I just ran OpenOffice.org on unstable and I cannot reproduce this bug.
I ran it with german and spanish UI (-kde installed of course and
running under KDE) and with myspell-es installed and the text formatted
as Spanish. No problem, the red line appears...

Bug#284487: Disabling KDE/Gnome Filechooser is a drawback

They are broken. Try opening files with non-ASCII charcters saved bafore from
somewhere else.

See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=280638. This applies to
the Gtk Fpicker too. And it is *not* just about documents you create yourself
(you could use no non-ASCII-chars) but what is with documents you get?
.oO ( docs with german umlauts for example )

Additionally, the Gtk fpicker is broken in many ways
(no way to enter a path (well, there's some unintuitive strg-whatever
combination), ftp:// and webdav:// iirc didn't work (OOo can open files over
FTP or WebDAV and it was no problem to open it with the OpenOffice.org
filepicker)

So I disabled it per default.

Then they can enable it.

Where the packages containing the fpickers will still be unable to open many
older files. And then? Would you need to disable those file pickers then?
What is the difference to now then?

Shouldn't that be exported globally for the whole system then? I do not

It is done in the unstable packages; maybe it will be possible to add them to
the sarge packages if the 1.1.3 packages won't enter sarge. Lets see.

This *is* the recent version. Should work with 1.1.3-x.

er? how? 1.1.4 isn't even packaged and ooo-build isn't even 1.1.4 ready
either. So wait till 1.1.4 is packaged, then I should need to build it..

a) Does that only happen with -kde? Does the "normal" one work fine?

b) do you use the baghira style? Which version then?

This *is* the problem.

You can use baghira, but use 0.6 or later. 0.5* is broken.

Since Debian only contains 0.6 -

kwin-baghira | 0.6-1 | testing | alpha, arm, hppa, i386,
ia64, m68k, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc
kwin-baghira | 0.6-1 | unstable | alpha, arm, hppa, i386,
ia64, m68k, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

- there is no sense to file a bug.

I am closing the bug against OpenOffice.org then.

Bug#267963: .openoffice/x.y.z/share/basic/* is the problem(s)

2005-01-07 Thread Rene Engelhard
Hi,

I yesterday saw exactly the same problem on an OpenOffice.org
mailinglist. The problem seems to be in the
.openoffice/x.y.z/share/basic/* files - especially script.xlc.

I bet with a grep on it you'll find openoffice.org1.1 there.

I think we should check for this and fix those entries in the
wrapper...

Right. The Problem is that you need non-free stuff (the non-free JDKs
out there) to build/use those so they are not done in the main
Debian package because main has to be self-contained for building and
running.

There is a addon package for 1.1.3 (openoffice.org-java) at
http://people.debian.org/~rene/openoffice.org/1.1.3/ which contains
those jars.

BTW: There already were "bugs" reported wrt that - #265134 et al. -
please check whether a bug already is reported before filing a new one.

uh? You use sid? And then 1.1.3-1? 1.1.3-4 is up to date in sid now...

Why don't you tag it experimental then?

ARGL. Why do you report two bugs in one? Report *one* bug for *one*
issue. And you of course got the severity wrong anyway. Cleaning up.

That version of OOo comes with libstdc++6 and pyuno's libs have a
RPATH, but iirc I read a few days ago that this one is broken upstream
atm.

Yes. This is known. But I have nothing no no clue about python...

It's fixed. 1.9.x's pyuno should find out whether python uses UCS2 or UCS4
and run/compile appropriately. At least something for that was done
upstream... I'll look/ask...

diff? Best to the pyunorc changing in debian/rules?

Interesting, but you could have just posted the relevant stuff, not the rest
of a channel I don't really care of since it's Ubuntu.

Works here. It just may take some time because it searches for JREs but it
doesn't crash here...

Can you give more information?

Hmm. No, works also when removing the Blackdown JDK..)
Do you have java-gcj-compat installed?

How does it crash?

Please do TEST whether it is applicable to Debian. This is the Debian
BTS, not the Ubuntu one. i

If it doesn't fail in Debian it's not really a problem for the Debian BTS
(I do accept patches of course...).

It uses java-gcj-compats jni.h symlink.
It should work on Debian but I did not test it anymnore with m108 since I
already am at 114. And you need java-gcj-compat-dev in Build-Depends
instead of only java-gcj-compat since java-gcj-compat was split.

I am not stupid. I know what causes this, especially since I added that
patch myself at the time gcc still has libjawt. I even got doko to
backport the change. And newer versions have a configure check for this.

> #3. Compile error:

[ snip ]

That's because you use 4.0. I know why I used 3.4 because binfilter
didn't get patches to work with 4.0 at that time yet. This is NO FTBFS
bug in the official package since you decided to build with a compiler
known to not work with 1.9.108-1.

You need forward declarations. Also already fixed.

Not to mention that if you fixed 1. by using java-gcj-compat-dev then it
would AFAIS have worked too since it contains a libjawt.so symlink...

#3 not. #3 is just that you changed to a compiler which didn't yet work with
the source. #1 is java-gcj-compat[-dev] problem and #2 is that patch.

After a second look, although the newest java-gcj-compat contains a libjawt.so
link it'd not help anyway since it doesn't look in i386/ for JDK == gcj.

I don't know whether it also split in Ubuntu. I just use Debian.

yeah, gcj/gij 4.0 and libcj6. Because that's what can build OOs Java stuff.

Yep.

Well, in this case it was really clear what the error is, so... I other cases
you of course should give info, but in this trivial case... (at least for
someone who did the offending patch himself as gcj had libjawt..)

I'd wait. Why do you want to rebuild it anyway?

there's source for 1.9.110-0pre1 on p.d.o but I thik it will fail to build,
too. I am currently working on 1.9.114 which needs some finetuning still I
guess and then a i386 and powerpc (17 hrs!) build before I can upload it.

It just takes kaffe with it because some of the dependencies (libraries,
IMHO they should NOT depend on a JVM..) take it with them.
AFAIS it won't work. If you want a free JDK, install java-gcj-compat and
use gcj 4.0

s/gcj/gij/. And I forgot to mention that is is dog slow also since gij
apparently has no JIT Compiler. Everything is interpreted *unless* you
do native compilation to jar.sos and tell it where those are. This is
a gcj-only feature but badly needed. I built a -jars-native deb for m113
but some change in java-gcj-compat or gcc-4.0 does make it not work
anymore :/

*shrugs*

I completely forgot that convertas I removed the builddep because
ooo-build does not do icon scaling anymore. Yes, of course we still need
it :/

This is serious. Or even grave..

This bugreport would be useless when I didn't already know that that is
broken because I broke it myself which was necessary because of the C++
transitiion in sid. Please always add some info.

Anyway, I am waiting for stlport4.6 to be transitioned before I can try to
build a fixed version...

Hi,

$ dpkg --contents openoffice.org2-common_1.9.116-0.pre1_all.deb | grep odb
-rw-r--r-- root/root 2790 2005-07-13 00:34:19

-rw-r--r-- root/root 3759 2005-07-13 00:34:19

Because of the second I made -evolution depend on -base because it

I am a bit unsure myself and don't exactly remember anymore. It could
very well be that I wrote it accidentially in -gnome too as/after I did
it at -evolution.

I guess I can remove it. Thanks.

Not for Debian. We use everything possible from system. That also means

It is. It is a ooo-build problem and we (Debian) don't build with cairo

This is *debian*-openoffice.

No. I disable cairo in the official packages and it's disabled per default in

Impossible. If it wants libstlport it wants 4.6 not 4.6c2.

I will. Filing bugs with inflated severities does *not* help. I am already
working on a new package and this will be fixed there, too. And anyway,
If I didn't already guess what the problem is (because I found another related
problem) your report would have been completely useless because it doesn't
tell what exactly went wrong.

Anyway, will be fixed in 1.1.4-5.

Hmm. The only way I see in fixing this is checking in OOo2s postinst
whether the /usr/share/myspell/dicts/dictionary.lst symlink
(share/dict/ooo/dictionary.lst is a symlink to there) and create it if
not existant. (Unless I miss something obvious that late here of
course...)

Including the symlink in the package is not possible since it then would
not be parallel installable with OOo1 anymore:

$ dpkg -S /usr/share/myspell/dicts/dictionary.lst
openoffice.org: /usr/share/myspell/dicts/dictionary.lst

Hmm. Doesn't look that beautiful.. I'll think about it.
